The SupercarDriver Carrera GT video

I drove the cgt for the scd vid. I also wish there was more driving footage in the vid. We spent 8 hrs filming loads of driving then we spent 5 mins doing the static speech. SCD are cautious about publishing driving clips that may appear to be a little too fast, or may appear to use a little too much of the road. I suspect another video is on the way tho, with more clips and less talking.
Please encourage them to! I’ve never heard one in the metal...having heard that vid I really need to now! Yes, it's pretty well established that police will prosecute vloggers if they overtly take the mickey with speeds.
I guess the compromise is to film a bit on a circuit, which is what some do.
As best you can, that video did show the brutality of the power train on the CGT. Wonderful beasts.

Tim shrick in the mountains is the one to hear that amazing howl. Its the vid that myself and 993rsr used to listen /watch before we got our-cars.
Indeed, and that video puts paid to the oft repeated idea that a Carrera GT is uncontrollable at the limit, and barely even controllable in normal driving due to the recalcitrant clutch and manual gearbox. With modern sports/supercars being laden with auto gearboxes and a plethora of safety systems, many drivers are truly rubbish when faced with an analogue car that requires a modicum of talent.

However it's V10 was drowned out by the numerous racers so I want to hear one in isolation. Better still hear it from the passenger seat.

The cgt can still bite one in the ass, good set up and tyres are crutial, clutch and gearbox have always been fine once used to it.

That said, the car isn't dangerous or uncontrollable but at the end of the day, it's still a 600+hp car with no real driver aids to save you from yourself (which is something rather different to most people who drive modern similarly high powered stuff) and despite the very high levels of feedback the car provides, if one chooses not to heed them then..... well one can hardly blame the car if something then goes wrong imo.

As yellow says, I think you perhaps understate the ability needed to do what Schrick did in the video. Especially as he would have been on the original spec ps2 tyres which I think everyone who tried them will agree were quite tricky. Walter Rohrl I believe quite famously had also said the car could be a bit of a handful for example.

This one also worth a watch while we're on the subject of CGT videos:

I was on that trackday in my 996 turbo. Max overtook me on the way up to the highest point at Hohe Acht. He was really shifting and I'd barely needed to lift to give him a clean pass. Sounded epic.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfqgAk_BPiE

No, it sounds pretty fking awesome. I think it is just the fact that the frequency of the noise is difficult to capture - it's very bassy.Found the video of the CGT overtaking. These were my very first, tentative, not totally dry laps of the Nordschleife (enough excuses?) so please don't laugh too much. Video link starts just before: https://youtu.be/WepPv0HUZD4?t=511

There is some truth to that. The exhaust is right at the back of the car pointing backwards. With the roof on, you are mainly hearing mechanical engine noises (plus the way it is mounted to the chassis). Naturally the video will further reduce the aural drama.I had wanted to attach an external GoPro on isaldiri's car to capture that amazing CGT howl, but we didn't want to risk it damaging anything....I think there is a gap out there on the interweb for a track video of a CGT but with a mic hanging towards the back of the car
As La Source says, it is the unfiltered mechanical noises that you really savour rather than the exhaust. Prestart there is a whine that reminds you where you are followed by a whirr and almost immediate firing that is always exactly the same sequence and exemplifies the excellence of the engineering. Coming to a stop there is something which sounds as though it is a pump scavenging; no doubt modern cars have this too but it is all muffled under a layer of padding. The car is quite low geared so 25mph /1000 in 6th. This does at least mean that at relatively low speeds there is some exhaust noise before the tyre roar takes over. Find a convenient Alpine wall to reflect and roof off you don’t have to be going that fast or have the skills of Tim Schrick or JC to enjoy the CGT.

Yep it's fair to say that I reckon. The car imo doesn't sound as good inside with the roof on. Sounds decent inside obviously but not quite as good as from outside the car. Like say....thishttps://www.instagram.com/p/BiExCTWl_lJ/
Throttle was partially backed off as I didn't want to exceed 280km/h as an arbitrary tyre stress cutoff so probably could have sounded better but I'd fully agree that it didn't sound quite like this while inside unfortunately...
P.S I'll leave lasource to try to figure out a way to attempt to get the outside sound in one of his videos as long as he doesn't need to drill through any cf panels on the car next year...

Not only WR statement,i lent my car to a pro driver/very experienced porsche guy,who got out and said wow great car,but boy can you feel the weight of the engine back there, and tricky to boot, but that was on old mich tyres in the day,his brother also said the same who had one.
Sadly you dont get to hear the great howl while driving really,or not as good as from behind, even with roof off,my wifes feedback, droney, noisey, tyre drone, drum from the carbon tub, every one looking at us which meant never again;)
Best run ever was three of us out in cgt, number 11 left at certain points, and one on the limiter in 6th,2 nd car tucked up with in a couple of meters of it,great times never to be repeated sadly.
