GT3 non RS is the better road car.

you buy the right car for the intended use.

the 991.2 RS already looks over the top as a road car and is hard sprung.

most already say the 991.1 RS is the better road car than the .2 RS and that's not a good road car anyway !!!
I agree the RS is all about lap times and on track driving experience, Imo it should be as extreme as road regs will allow, look at the SENNA that's "no looker", but can not argue with its lap times. Can not wait to see the final version of this car.

RS used to literally be a homologated race car with road legal tyres.and some carpet.... at present its medallion on an open-shirt hairy chest..... so if this is more focussed for track great... its a tool for lapping fast... not Knightsbridge, Mayfair and Sloane Street.

Touring is for the street.

By narrowing the focus you'll get the right people buying the right cars for the correct purpose.
if it turns out that way, I might buy one
just needs a roof rack for a set of slicks smile

Most definitely don't agree with that. Not a good road car? You've obviously not driven one then. Brilliant road car on the right road. Not good on UK / Ire motorways though with the road noise.

what a "right road" ?

If it not a motorway car and not a B road blaster , what it good at ? driving on the A43 ?

it's either good or it's not and imo it's not.

I’ve just come back from a drive in my RS over some country roads and what surprises me most is the ride quality. I suspect the people claiming it was too hard were using it as an excuse to flip it.It rides better than the GT3 I had which i wasn’t expecting.

Totally agree Taffy / Yellow. A and B road weapon. Ride quality is brilliant considering.

Those who say the RS is crap on the road usually haven't owned one.

I have a 991.1 GT3 and my friend a .1 GT3RS, I was amazed how good the ride was over poor country roads in the latter when he let me try it. Its definitely a good road car.

Its not a great car for long motorway journeys but an M5 would be better than both of them for that.

They won't use that wing - the goose neck design (and mounts) allows them to easily adjust the wing and establish how it effects drag/downforce etc - it was the same with the 718 GT4, 991.2 GT3/RS etc - the test mules always initially run goose neck wings and everyone goes 'I hate that wing' but it never appears on the actual production cars.

I don't think that's true. None of the mules for those cars had swan neck wings, they all had the ultimate production versions. The GT4 certainly never had one, only the GT4RS mules, and that car hasn't been finalised yet.

I think swan neck versions may well make production on the mule models we're seeing e.g. GT4RS, 992 GT3 and 992 GT3RS.

Porsche need to take more weight out of the RS and stop ballsing about with options lists as long as your arm. My 6RS weighs under 1350 kgs and light weigh construction technology has moved on a long way since 2003. Modern RS's could be lighter than that not 100kg plus heavier.

They wont because most buyers arnt buying them for that reason. Pity, the technology is there to build something very special - the problem is that the demand isnt.

Dont totally agree, the 991wprs is fairly light for its size In todays market with its jumbo wheels, brakes.tyres and cabin/chassis size, same weight as my 997rs was.
Totally agree they could have made it lighter, but its a road car,a great road car unlike the comics r reads that says otherwise.
It would be wicked to get a sub 1200kg road 911 today with its chassis and the lush latest rs engine, but sadly will never happen with the laws and crash testing etc.
I wound my 2001 gt3rs up the other day at dony for the first time after running the engine in,the corner grip is nothing short of amazing along with turn in etc,but thats 1120kg.
As the 992 is,its only going to get bigger sadly, now if they made a carbon tub version!

Dont stress..... photo is NOT representation of the actual car that will be release please trust me on this! the rear wing has sensors on it monitoring for data.

What im happy with is the 'frunk' looks to have been deleted.. now does that mean new folding buckets for rear storage for race helmets cargo swing etc?

I for one, am excited for these photos of not only the rs, but GT3 & Touring, if the progression on my 992 TurboS is anything to go by, then next gen of GT cars are going to wipe the floor with any competition that for sure! i swear my 992 turboS has the 991.2 GT3 front end.!

owners on PH seem to lie a lot about the cars they own though :-p

when you say best RS road car lol, most RS have been dire on the road and that's why I Don't own one or have in the past, does not make the new one good because it's better than the last one !. the RS is rock hard. and the 991.1 is more compliant.

Some thing which seems the reverse of 2 owners on PH saying otherwise !

THE b****** on this forum is laughable.

Guess it is different people have different preferences. I found neither my 997 GT2 nor now the 997 RS too hard for the road. Both perfectly fine road cars and summer daily drivers imo

Edit: although the lack of aircon does take a little getting used to when it is really warm
