That's just standard maintenance stuff in my experience!Mine was just sub 13k, private purchase 2.5yrs ago with 88k on the clock. Apart from needing a decent alignment and brake pads it was pretty decent and passed a Paragon Porsche PPI with no major issues found. I am probably a little the wrong side of 20k now (excluding standard service items - like the serpentine belt mentioned in the ad for the non sunroof car!) My spend has included - engine mounts, alternator, disks (and more pads) front bumper paint, wheel refurb, coolant lines, suspension o/h - ohlins upgrade at CG, waterless coolant, low temp T-stat, water pump, rads....etc etc. And I still have an engine that could demand a 5 figure rebuild turning it into a 30+k indulgence at any point! But I justify that to myself with the fact that for the money it is a great little driving tool and as I am not on the OPC list of anointed people who can enjoy free motoring by buying GT cars at list, having something nice to steer is not going to be money neutral let alone profitable.

Do I need to be a member to see pics or are there none on the ad?Ferris, I can't work out if you are actively looking or just market watching & discussing. I found my car off market & I think a lot of the good ones go that way. I let my Indy know I was wanting and if any of his clients was thinking of selling but couldn't be bothered with sale process & he would recommend the car then put us together & I'll make it worth his time.
Don't know if you have a good relationship with a Indy but I would recommend that route

Bit of both. Got too much on to be super proactive but will look at anything that comes up with potential if logistics permit. If things had fallen a little differently I'd have gone after the threadist's black C2 Friend's Green snapped up - I'd done some homework but it was too far away for me to be quick to it. I'm patient and can already see dealers actively pursuing the same cars I'd be interested in e.g. that one and I'm not going to pay them a £3k premium. Have spoken to a few people and have some with an ear to the ground already. Obviously wrong time of year to bag a bargain Boxster but keeping an eye out there, too, though I think I'd rather the 911.Don't know if you have a good relationship with a Indy but I would recommend that route
In the meantime it's good to get info from actual owners and see what people have done with their cars, too. I have an idea of how mine would evolve if I found one.
Wife just moved to the Bahamas, and will be earning tax free for the next 2 years. So plans are....
New shocks and a 30mm drop
New wheels - Fuchs or BBS LMs with gold centers
AC sorted
Cup steering wheel or Momo protipo
Sort out some bits of bodywork
Headlamp refurbish
Plus maybe graphics after seeing the car above.

Completely agree ! and also what `griffter` was saying up the page `these are 20k cars` - or they tend to be, once fully sorted.

Engine risk aside, do you now consider your car 'sorted' and so expect annual bills exc servicing to be minimal? Or will there always be more that needs doing so £1-2k annually on top of servicing, insurance, tax, fuel and tyres.Mine was just sub 13k, private purchase 2.5yrs ago with 88k on the clock. see picture above, are you sure you want black Fuchs ? The detail is lost with no contrast, compared to those silver/black ones
100% sure on the black Fuchs ! It’s obviously a very personal thing, but I just don’t think the silver petals look right on a modern 911. There are also some pretty horrid looking modern Fuchs “interpretations”, particularly when you get up to 18”. Any views on which look best ? I think the Braid wheels look better than the genuine Otto Fuchs, but I’m sure there are others (eg the new Group 4 versions in this month’s 911 & PW.........@hyphen: For now it certainly feels, sounds and drives in a nicely sorted way, but it has lots of bits and pieces which could fail so one never knows. I am hoping for some regular servicing only respite though, we shall see.
But just like any car of this age there are known unknowns and unknown unknowns! The prior owner sold it to me because the unknowns had become unacceptable to him / his Mrs. He had some chunky unexpected bills and pulled the plug. Some but not all of his expenses in the last year were, new AOS, new coolant expansion tank - and very expensively ( from an OPC) a new ignition barrell, 2 new keys and an alarm re programme. Luckily for me he also fitted a CarGraphic exhaust.
And there is always going to be the elective item or two, I had a creaky original windscreen cured with a new fitting kit from Porsche recently, not vital, but for a few hundred well worth it. I suspect my gearbox mount is rather past its best, and although the gesrshift is fine, a new 997 selector becons. I would also like to upgrade the original headers, but will let them soldier on for now. Some of the items which the perfectionist will want to refresh are damned expensive, things like door seals can essily cost alarming amounts, mine are ok but they might start whistling and need changing one day. But I do think that without letting perfectionism rear its ugly head, once ‘sorted’ running costs can be capped at servicing - untill something needs attention because it no longer works. In reality sorted in the mechanical sense means that the engine / cooling and associated ancilliarirs are known as far as is possible to be in good health, and that the brakes and suspension components are also in good fettle and set up properly.
