Just stumbled across a Autosport supertest, in which a 991.2 GTS ran significantly faster lap times than a 991.1GT3 and RS at Nurb and Hockenhiem (on cup tyres)... pretty quick things for a non GT!
Can you put a link to it or something please?Google translate is your friend if you don't speak German.
Hockenhiem times
991.2 GTS 1'10.x
991.2GTS 1'08.0
991 Turbo 1'08.02
991 GT3RS 1'08.5
997 GT2RS 1'08.4

All cars flex to a certain degree some more obvious than others.I personally would never spec any type of sunroof on my 991 no more than i would go for a Targa or Cabriolet. The flex is brought into much sharper focus on a 991's glass sunroof even compared to the steel sun roofed version as the glass itself cannot flex unlike a steel sunroof has a degree of flexibility.Another point worth bearing is that the glass sunroof weighs nearly twice as much as the steel sunroof as the glass itself is much heavier and the extra weight of the motor for the sunshade.
If you want a 991 for road driving and cruising etc all my points above become irrelevant but if that's the case you might as well get the Targa or Cabrio instead. If you track a lot or spend a lot of time driving fast on very rough roads a glass sunroof is a liability imo.

This is ridiculous when discussing a road car. If you want a sunroof then get a sunroof (imo they look great). You should not be concerned about how many tenths it adds on lap times, you're not racing the thing, and I'm sure the non sunroof car will be no more fun!!!! If you want to go faster, then get instruction, go racing, but don't omit a sunroof! If you think this dulls your driving experience, then you're thinking far too much into it!!!!
Glass sunroofs on 991's seem to polarise opinion...either people love them or dislike them..I'm unashamedly in the latter camp as its expensive, creaks and squeaks and adds significant weight at the highest point of the car plus it has a very narrow aperture and looks ridiculous sitting outside of the roof like an afterthought.Edited by xbowdan on Wednesday 23 August 20:32
Just my own personal view and not relevant on my September build GT3 thank god...

I think if there was an issue with creaks and squeaks it has been fixed long ago. Mine is perfectly OK and I haven't seen one complaint about a 991.2 GTS having problems. Glass sunroof is a popular option and in my opinion looks great, lets more light into the car and when cruising around on a sunny day lovely with the roof open. As for the extra weight - it would take a track and a professional driver to show up any performance difference - if indeed there is any measurable difference!Just my own personal view and not relevant on my September build GT3 thank god...

Sorry to do this to you Gorsh but mine creaks and groans. I have a seatbelt rattle where it comes out of the a frame as well. My .1GTS was creak and rattle free but the .2GTS has creaked since the first drive home. I'm on the fence about sunroofs - I wouldn't have spec'd on either car but it's there so I do occasionally open the blind and crack the glass open. Seems to be a wanted option on Second hand cars though.
Totally agree about the weight issue and I don't think it makes any difference to us mortals on road or track.

"As I understand it, Porsche AG have just announced another "financial bombshell" for owners of their products with centrelock wheels. If what I've been told is true (and I've no reason to suspect otherwise) it'll be in the public domain soon enough and the brown smelly stuff may hit the round whirly thing. To those it affects, I'd write to Reading, do not phone them . . . . "

Placed order today, super excited and can't wait to get an extended test drive and run out at the PEC!
Who has gone manual in a GTS and how are they finding it? Going to try PDK as well but hoping the manual adds a bit more occasion to the drive...
Can I ask what delivery lead time you were quoted?Who has gone manual in a GTS and how are they finding it? Going to try PDK as well but hoping the manual adds a bit more occasion to the drive...
ps; Great thread this one, after a drive of the 991.2 GTS at the PEC seriously considering swapping my 997.1 Turbo for one...

I went with manual and I love it. It is to my daily driver so I am sure that played a part in my decision. Fabulous gearbox and very engaging to drive. Who has gone manual in a GTS and how are they finding it? Going to try PDK as well but hoping the manual adds a bit more occasion to the drive...

I've got a C2 GTS manual on order, but I've not taken delivery yet as I've still got a few months wait. However, I did my PEC drive yesterday in their manual car and I absolutely loved it. The gearbox is really nice and direct, and much better than the manual that appeared in the early 991's. If you're a big fan of manuals, I say go for it as you never know how many years manual has left in the likes of these cars.Who has gone manual in a GTS and how are they finding it? My instructor did comment that the PDK cars were quicker, but to be honest I don't care about lap times or the like. All I know is that I really enjoyed the manual and that it put a smile on my face. What more can you say?
Now, just got to get the next couple of months out of the way until my car arrives.

That post was from 2013, probably related to the issue of wheels coming off when not tighten correctly."As I understand it, Porsche AG have just announced another "financial bombshell" for owners of their products with centrelock wheels. Each to their own, but just to point out that the rattling some users report is not something that I have experienced (it would annoy me if it did though!).

Alcantara seems to be the 'must have' so the question is how durable is it and does it keep it's appearance? I would have preferred the leather interior with alcantara (i.e. seats and steering wheel in leather and the rest alcantara) but that seems sacrilege.

they said march april next year. not really bothered tbh, even june / jul will be fine. I don't know when production stops but had the order confirmed so all good.ps; Great thread this one, after a drive of the 991.2 GTS at the PEC seriously considering swapping my 997.1 Turbo for one...
I have been doing a lot of driving in my wifes JCW which has been so much fun with the manual. ive left the auto at home. I will try pdk at the pec but I think my heart is set on manual as I love stirring gears and adds an extra challenge on full bore up shifts. near enough 500 hp with a stick is my cup of tea. even pdk on manual mode feels like I am not doing in much and I love being engaged on the drive, even if it is a daily driver on the way to meetings!
this is the spec PJXJDTW5
