I am sure of the spec I want but can't decide on glass roof. I drove a 4s to the pec and drove the GTS around the pec and out on the roads. Thought I could do without 18 way seats and full LED lights but as options on the 4s they were great. I drove the black GTS at the pec. Really basic spec which ruined the car overall. I didn't realise the GTS pack included full leather dash (minus the stitching around the vents on the horizontal part of the dash (which is an 800£option). Could really notice the difference in ride of the 4s vs the GTS with -20mm spasm.
I had this dilemma but went with the glass roof in the end. I think the black frame works well on the GTS and I don’t think you would notice the difference in weight or rigidity in day to day driving. Also specced the GTS packs and the 18 ways for the memory function so I don’t have to readjust everything after the wife has been driving. Didn’t bother with the LED’s as thought this was an expensive option and it is fairly well lit where I liveJacko.1 said:
Was the ride a lot firmer with the GTS? What about the sound, any difference with the GTS. Was the performance more noticeable_ sorry, excited to hear some comparisons as having just come out of a 991.2
Yes the ride was noticeably firmer in the GTS in a good way. Very sporty. I cant say i noticed any difference in the sound. They both had PSE. Gear changes were more aggressive in sport plus mode in the GTS. A real kick in the back on shifting. Dont know how i'm going to wait 6 months. Kermitgreenmeanmachine said:

I drove that black gts too last month, if I hadn’t already ordered the car it would have put me off, it’s a terribly specced car, the intior is horrible, way too basic for a car that’s designed to encourage people to buy one and spec some options (where they make their real money)I drove it on track and on the roads around silverstone, I thought it was a bit crash personally in sport mode, compared to my Boxster gts. I didn’t spec the -20mm sports suspension in my Boxster either.
My 911 gts is a Cab, and that seems to get the -10mm with no option for -20, so that will suit me fine I think.
I'm a 997 GTS owner and I have to say that I love this thread. Look forward to checking it out every day for my fix of 991 GTS goodness. Keep it up people...
I'm looking under the mattress and inside the couch for the extra 25k needed to get one having had a 991.1 gts for a month when my last 991 had problems (thanks Bristol OPC)...
AWESOME CARS

I enjoy the glass roof ,I would be amazed if you would notice the extra weight (0.03%) , makes the car look better (subjective) ,and allows you to enjoy more of the engine noise as I find the noise quite muted inside .Hi folks, another here who has included a glass sunroof.
Been lurking in the background enjoying this thread since placing my order at the start of June! Thanks for all the insights and info. My wait is almost over! Got a call on Thursday and collection day should be end of next week! First Porsche and never driven a .2 GTS, must have read and viewed every review ever produced over the last few months![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Relatively modest spec but the essentials are all there for me, had to stop somewhere

GTS or GTS4 ?
Is the additional £5k cost of the new 4 justified over the 2 ? Why are the 2015 used cars a similar price meaning the 4 has lost an extra £5k in that time ?
What outstanding benefits on the 4 over the 2 ?
I would imagine the 4 wheel drive makes it useable on all weathers giving better traction when perhaps a 2 wheel sports car might start to get uncomfortable. The added traction also gets it off the line quicker. The downsides I imagine are slightly less fuller economy due to the additional weight and perhaps less playful if you want to swing the back end out a bit on the cornersIs the additional £5k cost of the new 4 justified over the 2 ? GTS 4 as it’s my daily so winter proof. I like Carrera 4s.
GTS 2 is the purists choice and the better option as a weekend toy. Probably will lose less cash too.
Absolutely loving my car after a mere 50 miles.
I went for: GT silver, -20mm , rear wheel steer, lift, LEDs, sensors and camera, adaptive cruise, glass sunroof, folding mirrors, light design, both interior packs (red), Multifunction heated leather steering wheel, bose, 18 way seats, rear windscreen wiper (controversial), rear and side model badge delete. Full PPF and clearplex windscreen (OCD).
Absolutely love the spec and wouldn’t change it. The car drives superbly. Seats are better than 14 way and chassis feels nicely firm but very compliant in sport (coming from a mini JCW)! Pick up is rapid and I can’t feel any turbo lag. The rear wheel steering does make a big difference and I wouldn’t spec without. No discernible understeer.
Didn’t spec PDCC or power steering plus.
These cars get a lot of attention (positive so far)
Porsche Chester have been superb throughout and would recommend without hesitation (excellent coffee too).
To all who have cars coming - congratulations - you are in for a treat!

Have to say that is a very nice Spec, well done that man, I've not gone for the 18ways as I luckily had a seat in both 14 and 18 way cars as they were nose to tail in the showroom, I found the 14 ways went lower, and being tall were perfect for me. I like the look of the folding buckets in a GTS, however having had them in my just sold .1GT3 I just found them wrong for my body size.
Really starting to stretch the legs of mine now, its a very fast, very capable car. Rolling duels on motorway, or screaming round Horseshoe pass and other North Wales roads, its equally at home on both.
The speed you can carry through tight bends, and how early it allows you to get back on the power is astonishing.
With mine being 2 wd it gives just a little slip, I'm no racing driver, but even I can use this when cornering hard in hairpins etc.
The only downside so far is the road rash it picks up in front of rear wheels, luckily I have the Porsche guards removed and replaced with a much higher Expel PPF, which has saved the day, they are not healing sadly, but at least its just on the PPF and the paint is good.
Smiles per mile hard to match...

Practically impossible to repair if kerbed due to two colours and would a serious specialist jobPicking my GTS up on Friday, 2 sleeps to go ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Mulling over the Porsche (Vodafone) tracker subscription. By all accounts a very good system however £235 annual subscription vrs £80 reduction in insurance policy cost with the tracker activated just doesn’t add up. To add to that, I’ve paid for GAP insurance and I’m not sure I would want the car back following theft.
If it meant catching a low life car thief was assured by having this system activated then I wouldnt hesitate however that’s not reality. Anyone else got any thoughts in this?
Thanks,
Steve.
