I'm paying about 1% of the vehicle value. Classicline and Lockton were similar premiums. Have you tried them? Presume car is standard with Tracker?

If they are coming out over £2K, I would ask why? Is it due to the SP30s, which seems harsh, but possible. Insurers normally let one go, but load the premium if multiple, but I still wouldn't think it would make a premium over £3K
I used Classicline for years and then they went rogue on a new Mclaren in about 2018 and gave a silly quote and wouldn't relent so I moved my cars from them, not tried Locktons yet.
I have asked why the £3247 premium, like you say 1 or even 1.5% max I would've thought should be more like it.
I've used both insures above as well as Footman James for any Porsche I use for track days. I tried all three a few weeks ago as well as Manning. Manning no longer cover track days and the most expensive. The other three were similar but ClassicLine were both the cheapest and offered by far the best cover for track days.
Locktons were a close second but have recently changed policy to only cover PCGB track days with strictly no exceptions. I'm with ClassicLine for the second year but worth trying Lockton if you either don't do track days or only PCGB ones.
When you say the best cover for track days Taffy with CL, can you expand on that? I had an offer from CL last year and they offered £1m track cover vs £500k for FJ - 10% of course. Friend in the sector said to be cautious with CL if there was a total loss for the GT on track (doomsday scenario I know!)

I've used Footman James, Lockton and ClassicLine so no allegience to either. Footman James would only offer very limited track day cover with a limit on payout. Also only three days and a separate charge on top. I don't recall all the details of FJ as they were so far behind the other two I stopped paying attention.
Lockton are excellent and probably the best for all round cover as it allows any driver over 35 to drive your car and also cover the policy holder to drive any other car fully comp no matter the value. They would fully cover me to drive your CGT with no extra excess.
ClassicLine were the only one who provided comprehesive track day cover with unlimited Car Club days, six other days and only £50 for each additional day. They are head an shoulders above every one else in terms of trackday cover right now.
Both of my best track day mates also use ClassicLine so I'm not the only one who prefers them !.
Footman James no longer use Aviva Specialist Cars as their underwriter which is why they don't offer good track day cover according to their rep I spoke to on the phone a few weeks ago.

My policy underwriter is Azur, had no issues with getting cover for the EU and even the 'ring in the CGT, and it's not just down to cost of course, more than one facet to insurance.

That's good to hear however completely opposite to my experience. Without going into much detail FJ track day cover was virtually non-existent when I enquired very recently. Price had nothing whatsoever to do with my decision.

Do they still cover ‘Ring? Is it additional 1 or 2 day premium, like Manning used to be?

I’ve been with Classic Line for a few years now. They’re good for UK track days, as standard, but I have to get specific, separate coverage from Moris for ‘Ring track days.

For me yes smile An additional premium but way less than insuring via a third party. At my own admission I am a very sedentary driver on track. I've been fortunate they offer cover for all UK and EU tracks including the 980,

"By my own admission to my medical insurers I am a moderate drinker." hehe

I might give them a try then. I can tell them in all honesty that I drive even slower than you do.

This looks lovely, but 400 miles since new........ surely a bad purchase for anyone wanting one to drive as would be paying top dollar now for the lack of mileage

And a beyond st investment if that’s what it was. Could have sold it for more than that in 2017 and assuming they owner was paid £150k for it by Top555 made about 10% in five years.

There have always been used 991.2 GT3s for sale in the last ~6 years. Anyone with the money could have / still can buy one. If the owner had sold it in 2017, he'd be slagged off for being a flipper. Anyway, this is a 2 owner car, so who knows when and how much the current owner paid for it, and the personal circumstances or reasons why it's very low mileage.

Seems odd a 2 owner car having such low mileage. That said, its up to them what they do with it (or not in this instance).

My post was more that its surely destined for a collection, as your paying a premium for the lack of mileage which you would lose in no time should you choose to actually use it as Porsche intended.

There’s no way a dealer is only making 10k on a 160k car ,I would think 20k +

I would largely agree with your comment, although there may be someone out there who is willing to pay a 10-20k premium for a very low mileage car, rather than multiple owner 10,000+ miler which seem to be trading in the high 130s to 150k. I suppose the competition at £160k is that another £25k will get you into a single owner 2 year old 992

you could argue that compared to this one https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207077... its better value although this one has been on sale since july 2022 and is still for sale

As a point of reference for the price monitors, I’ve just bought a late 2017 991.2 GT3 PDK Clubsport with 9k miles for £145k.

Lift. PCCB’s and other stitching stuff that throbbers like Av185 would like but I have already forgotten.

Hopefully collecting tomorrow.

Have just booked onto Silverstone for April 11th and also the Manthey day in May at the ‘ring.

Classicline are the insurers and the ‘ring just carries an extra cost of £200’ish extra for the day.

I thought the Manthey day had sold out. As it Is I’m there with DN on the 5th.

As for the car, that’s a great buy, congrats. I saw it on someones photo on IG today… I don’t think that car even made it to the RPM website?
