With a new Miami blue GTS arriving end of October I’ve been following this thread and noted the insurance quotes from Admiral. Thought I’d have a go myself and got what seems a frankly ridiculously low premium at £322.64 for a £100k + car. The premium lowered by c£75 just by adding my wife. Fully comp with standard £500 excess

I'm getting quote of £712 with admiral. Full NCB, no points, mid 40s, married, wife on policy with full NCB and no points, CV32 postcode (low risk), kept on drive. It's a lottery!

I've got the same £550 or so premium with Admiral and it reduced by adding my gf onto the insurance

I did notice mileage made a difference too...I do maybe 6k per year but for more miles, there is statistically more chance of an accident I guess.

Final aspect seemed to be the sort of use ... I use it for travelling to work sometimes so added that to the quote and it increased the premium by a small amount but it's all these small amounts and 'options' such as legal cover that keep pushing it up

one thing to bear in mind with Admiral they don't do new for old on the first year like most insurers, though on price they can't be beat... i've got all mine on a multicar policy... i'm sure i'll be feeling the pain if i ever needed to make a claim, but its about accepting that risk IMO

I will go for gap insurance anyway, so should mitigate that risk. Do admiral give you a choice where to repair it?

Presumably it's your postcode then?
Possibly but I’m in Buckinghamshire, so hardly high risk like Manchester or Liverpool etc.

Mine is the convertible, but it shouldn’t make that much difference.

I had a lot of playing around with different options, mine is an everyday driver so at a minimum I need SD&P but also added business (which didn’t change it that much), I did choose 10k miles a year (as I use it for work too, traveling to customer sites), 3k of which for business, I didn’t think 10k a year was a lot but maybe if people are doing only 5-6k it is.

I don’t have a female to add to the policy.

But I still don’t understand why the quote is around 2k direct on the site but 1k from compare the market, I’m obviously missing something. Still, my car is 9 months away, so I’ve got plenty of time.

So according to this site, cv32 is a B risk, I’m hp13 which is C.

So me getting a £1000 quote doesn’t seem unreasonable for slightly higher risk and no wife.

Did you get that quote direct on the site or going through compare the market though out of interest?

Try giving them a call David, you never know they might be able to improve on the online quote, the whole thing seems to be a bit of a lottery. My area is cat B, my wife and I on the policy, car is garaged and no tracker and 8000 miles per year, SDP use only as my wife is actually the main driver and I have another car.

I got a higher quote over the phone, around £800 and they couldn’t explain why. I was already insured by them for my previous car and even though I had a quote reference number for a much lower online quote they wouldn’t match it over the phone. I ended up canceling my insurance over the phone, cost me £42 and took out a new policy online. Bizarrely my previous policy was on a 2012 640d, value around £18000 and it was more expensive than a new GTS to insure!

Reading the policy handbook it looks like they split the 110k liability and it’s underwritten by a few companies, each taking a % of the risk. I took GAP insurance as well, also confirmed over the phone with Admiral they will allow you to take it to Porsche for repairs.

Thanks, all good info. I was going to take gap insurance this time, never had it before, but think it’s worthwhile for this sort of car.

That was a direct quote on their site, not through third party.

100 miles in: I already know this is the best car I've ever owned. Several M3s, 996 Turbo Manual, GT4. This is - for me - just better. It's quick, characterful, planted, comfortable.

Prior to this, the favourite 911 - in terms of playful handling - I ever drove (didn't own) was a base 997 Gen 1 Carrera and this car has that essence.

It's a two wheel drive, coupe, manual, PCCBs, no sunroof, RWS, the four way sports seats plus, no PDCC. GTS alcantara package, interior carbon package, light design package, yellow instrument dials, heated multifunction steering wheel (lovely). Front axle lift system - 100 miles maybe too early - but I have a feeling I won't need this very much. A few other bits: rear wiper, the speed limit display thing (which I like), cruise control and folding mirrors. Very happy with the spec.

I was a bit worried about black and even the night before collection was having second thoughts thinking I should have gone for Crayon (which I love)... but it looks stealth, I don't mind a bit of dirt for the well used look and I think this is highly likely to be my day-to-day car so something a little understated (!!!!) may work well. Anyway, I really like it in the flesh and the yellow instrument dials pick up the PCCB calipers nicely.

The fact the condensers (I assume) in the front splitter are so exposed worries me as I had to replace these in the 996 Turbo and at some point a stone is bound to go through them. The GT4 has a grill which seems sensible. I guess there must be a reason Porsche have left them like this...

But overall... I have never been so impressed with a car on picking it up. I obviously haven't revved it out yet, but I'm certain this is my perfect 911, which makes it my perfect car.

Lovely looking car Iain and congratulations on your purchase - brilliant spec and I love the PCCB on a black car.

Car gets better and better after a few miles. 2k miles it gets even louder and after its run in it revs out brilliantly and so un-turbo like. It’s sharper handling than the 991.1GTS and very playful when you want to and mine doesn’t have RWS. I had a GT4 as well I think the GTS is stunning very usable every day and good fun when you want it as well. ENJOY 😉

Try NFU for insurance.

BIL got a pretty amazing price on his 3 cars. P90D Tesla, 991GT3 & V8S Cayenne for well under £1k total.

Another member on here just used them to insure his DB11, and they were £2k cheaper than any other quote he'd had.

Very good quality cover too.

IainR - car looks awesome!

Guys try NFU insurance, seriously - I've insured 2 cars through them now (GT4 & GT3.2) and both less than £500 (3000miles, garaged, 9yrs NCD, SD&P)

eta - you can also pay monthly at no extra cost with NFU

What is the recommended maximum RPM and for how many miles to run the GTS in? Never thought to ask when I picked it up!

Not a problem as long as you have GAP imsurance but Admiral don't cover the optional spec on a car when it comes to a claim...,they only pay out on a base spec car. That certainly used to be the case despite them wanting details of all optional spec.
