991 GTS Must haves

The fact the condensers (I assume) in the front splitter are so exposed worries me as I had to replace these in the 996 Turbo and at some point a stone is bound to go through them. The GT4 has a grill which seems sensible. I guess there must be a reason Porsche have left them like this...
I have the same on the Boxster gts and the holes do scoop up all manor of stuff, mostly leaves, twigs, random crap that bounces up and manly stones. My radiator grills are full of stones, but nothing has gone through. Some people with gts’s have purchased third party meshing, but I think it looks a bit weird and can be a pain to fit. The thing to watch is in the winter with gritters, you get masses of grit in there even staying well back!

100 miles in: I already know this is the best car I've ever owned. Several M3s, 996 Turbo Manual, GT4. This is - for me - just better. It's quick, characterful, planted, comfortable.
Prior to this, the favourite 911 - in terms of playful handling - I ever drove (didn't own) was a base 997 Gen 1 Carrera and this car has that essence.
It's a two wheel drive, coupe, manual, PCCBs, no sunroof, RWS, the four way sports seats plus, no PDCC. GTS alcantara package, interior carbon package, light design package, yellow instrument dials, heated multifunction steering wheel (lovely). Front axle lift system - 100 miles maybe too early - but I have a feeling I won't need this very much. A few other bits: rear wiper, the speed limit display thing (which I like), cruise control and folding mirrors. Very happy with the spec.
I was a bit worried about black and even the night before collection was having second thoughts thinking I should have gone for Crayon (which I love)... but it looks stealth, I don't mind a bit of dirt for the well used look and I think this is highly likely to be my day-to-day car so something a little understated (!!!!) may work well. Anyway, I really like it in the flesh and the yellow instrument dials pick up the PCCB calipers nicely.

But overall... I have never been so impressed with a car on picking it up. I obviously haven't revved it out yet, but I'm certain this is my perfect 911, which makes it my perfect car.
Lovely spec that. Nice bit of yellow.
Well done sir. Enjoy in good health!

IainR - car looks awesome!
Guys try NFU insurance, seriously - I've insured 2 cars through them now (GT4 & GT3.2) and both less than £500 (3000miles, garaged, 9yrs NCD, SD&P)
eta - you can also pay monthly at no extra cost with NFU
I’ll second the above and also NFU have a new for old in the first two years with a full replacement new car to the same spec or if discontinued then your invoice value so no need for gap insurance either.Guys try NFU insurance, seriously - I've insured 2 cars through them now (GT4 & GT3.2) and both less than £500 (3000miles, garaged, 9yrs NCD, SD&P)

If you think you'll own the car for just 1 or 2 years, then relying on a motor insurer's new car replacement cover is OK.
But if you think you'll own the car for longer, then it may be worth taking GAP insurance shortly after purchasing the car to cover the shortfall after the motor insurer's replacement cover has expired. If you don't, you will most likely have a massive shortfall from years 2 to 5.
ALA will provide £50,000 of shortfall cover, over a 5 year period, for around £600.
And to balance the NFU love-in, I can't stand that organisation. And a lot of others on Trust Pilot think likewise: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.nfumutual.co....
The thing with cheapness is that it costs eventually.

Ref someone else's question, another vote her for admiral insurance. Not tried a 991.2 GTS quote (yet), but a Nissan GTR and R8 V10 no problem on price for under 25.
I like that, looks good. Is it at distracting? I guess not. Do they still look yellow at night. Never seen yellow dials before.
Love the way you can literally personalise it any way you want and have it totally bespoke to yourself (literally with personalised tread plates!). I think the configurator was the single most important tool that Porsche ever developed and has earned them more money than anything else.

Had my GTS spec and order ready, then found myself checking the approved used website and up popped exactly what I wanted - colour, options the whole 9 yards and only 3 months old.
2wd, miami blue, pdk, glass roof, pdls+, keyless entry & drive, heated seats and wheel, carmine GTS interior, -20mm suspension, carbon sills, interior pack and a bunch of other stuff. The original owner really went to town...
Car is currently at Topaz for some paint fettling and ppf, possible pickup this sat or latest Monday... the sleepless nights have begun!!
Thanks to all who have posted on this thread, no mention of values(!) and has helped the journey to GTS ownership.
Congrats - it's by far the best car I've ever owned!
