I could buy that, swap the engine with mine (and vice versa) and see the cab for 12kish... Hartech 3.7 for c.6K plus labour.
Tempting isn't it!

They don't go into any detail on the engine work, I wonder what was actually done & whatt he total cost was?

I would think a 3.7 would be the full Monte.

Has to be, really- can’t leave four of the old cylinders in there.

I reckon so too.

Bad timing for you, that would have been perfect.

Surely even a full fat 3.7 might need a rebuild eventually. It isn't necessarily that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

You could do it in a weekend, with a couple of ATV jacks and a quick blat to kwik fit for an air con recharge on the Monday.

You'll probably get another 100k miles of fun out of it

Yes, bad timing... mine went in to have the front end painted yesterday - a woman reversed in to me just after Christmas, so taking the opportunity to have the bonnet and wings done (and a bit of paint bubbling fixed on the NS wheel arch) whilst it's having the bumper painted.

I get it back early next week, then it's in to storage whilst I head off to Spain for 6 months of R&R.

Would have seriously considered the swap if I was going to be around.

That would give them plenty of time to do the swap!

I need to look after my pennies now I'm retired wink

Got a mega recommendation for the body work - a mate had a similar job done on his 4S. Looked perfect. Took mine for a quote - £800!

Has anyone spoken to the dealer with the 3.7 cab?

That could be an interesting way of getting a fresh 3.7 into the C2.

Are the fairly local? I've a few bits that could do with painting sooner or later

I gave a guy I work with a go at driving mine, he's a spirited driver & has a golf R at present but he just loved the feel & input needed to drive the 996, it brought back the art of driving com paired to the Xbox style of modern cars

Spotted this on eBay this morning, it looks like a ridiculous amount of car for the money:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-911-3-4-996-Car...

A smidgen over 7k for a manual 911... MOT history isn't spotless but for that money, who cares?
