Wow - nice one! How much do you reckon it costs to track these days? I'd always assumed about £1k/day (+ the cost of the TD itself) but didn't know how far from reality this was
Rule 1....NEVER add up the costsRule 2....see rule 1
What he said
The more trackdays you do in a year, the cheaper it is per day. How's that for man maths?

Bumper looks down on one side, look at the panel gap by the side indicator. I remember when I bought mine 8 years ago, a lot of the CS models looked well tracked so I got a tidy comfort instead. Still need to get a half cage and buckets I think values of 996 GT3 is likely to drop a bit from current levels. There's little logic to any of the prices being commanded by modern classic Porsches IMO and most of it is driven by the current attractiveness of a classic cars against low interest rates and flat stock markets. All previous bubbles have eventually resulted in corrections.
Yes, in theory , there is no real reason why 996 GT3 should not in time reach the levels of previous GT Porsches , especially 964RS which is laughably overpriced right now. 993RS I get, there's hardly any of them but there's no rhyme or reason most of the time.
997 RS is 99% the same car as 997 GT3 but fetches twice the money??
But it's unlikely we'll seeGT3 levels 5 years ago , my 997.1 RS cost £63k, 996GT3 RS was resolutely £55k and vanilla 996 GT3 at high 30's!

As a well known German purveyor of air cooled RS cars stated many years ago. "There are no virgins in the bordello". And whilst that might not be completely true, a lot of GT3's have "histories" that don't bear close scrutiny. Let us not forget these were £30-35k cars until not that long ago, and there were plenty of owners at this price point who mistook ambition for ability...
But there are some peaches out there, get any prospective purchase inspected by the specialists that know these cars inside out, and you won't go far wrong.

It's difficult to put into words but there arent many cars that you need to have a little sit down for a minute or two after driving!
Bingo!I only ever use mine for fun driving, mostly in Scotland and Europe. Nearly all of my most memorable blats have been in the GT3.
Whenever I've had thoughts of selling I just look at this picture from Scotland. Needless to say the car is still in my garage

i can actually put myself in this scenario mentally just looking at the photo. It just boils down to hard i want to go, the car just keeps giving. I couldnt consider taking a passenger as they would think i had lost my mind!!

15 months and no crash in values, the want is still high.
I'm thinking of dipping in, does anyone know this car (this is an old ad - the car is no longer for sale with them

Don't know about that car, but the colour looks lovely, although I have an aversion to black cars, purely from the point of being lazy and them being bds to keep looking clean.
FWIW, I saw JZM posted on Facebook yesterday that they have just got a guards red 996.1 GT3 in stock, but it's not in their showroom stock online yet: https://www.facebook.com/JZMPorsche/photos/pcb.228...

That is the absolute twin of my car, albeit older and with more miles - I paid just a few hundred more than that for my 28k 2005 from one of the good guy dealers last August.I'm thinking of dipping in, does anyone know this car (this is an old ad - the car is no longer for sale with them

So in the winter, unless there’s been a price rise in the last 6 months (unlikely) there would seem to be a bit of room for negotiation on that one.
Negotiate and get it bought, you could have been enjoying one for the last 15 months!

Thanks for the insight - It’s no longer for sale with them, it’s somewhere else and likely to be a chunk less than that price. So in the winter, unless there’s been a price rise in the last 6 months (unlikely) there would seem to be a bit of room for negotiation on that one.

Problem is the wife wants a new toy, just sold her mini** - I would be in the real bad books if I bought myself something before her....
- She has a daily as well, so she won’t be left without a car.
