I've seen a detailed power/torque graph for the 991.2GT3 and noticed at the time a distinct dip in top end power at circa 8-8.5k revs..Another more informed person suggested at the time it looked as the GT3 was held back to allow room for additional power for the forthcoming RS.
It seems to me the only difference between the GT3's engine and RS's is simply a software tune..If that's the case then i see no engineering reason not to offer a manual..
A reliable guy on Rennlist has also said he believes there will be two build cycles for the RS;a short 2-3 month until April this year without the particulate filter and a much longer cycle from September well into 2019 with the new filter fitted.
Perhaps Porsche are intending to build higher numbers of the RS than they're letting on..It won't be the first time they've employed this marketing tactic on their supposedly limited GT cars.

Well. And the very fact that if its PDK only then will the stick shift brigade stick to their pass vented words and turn down the paddled RS because that stick makes it more involving, right.. Now that would test any avid stick lover smile. They will not comment on that though just yet, till we know 100% for sure hehe

With a new one every 4 years the incremental improvements are getting a little uninteresting. The most exciting thing about this launch is that more of these fabulous machines will be dropped into the market, allowing a little more dilution.
They'd probably generate more of a frenzy if they decided to have a break from designing a new RS for 4 years and do a fresh run of 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0s!

Is it even 4 years - I think it is 3 since the last one broke cover (might be wrong though)

So between the various GT models, I don’t find it all that exciting anymore if still a little more interesting than reading about a new parts bin special ala T, GTS etc. feels like a “limited” new model every quarter (or maybe half year at the most) - fair enough though to make money while demand outstrips any level of supply they can throw at the market

no press release, so still a chance, I think it would be daft not to offer mag wheels etc

Unlike the gen1 gt3, I don't actually think I've heard of any engine related issues to be honest with the RS and lots of them do get used on track rather a lot in Germany. The gen2 car I suppose will have even more refined electronics and definitely will be faster (possibly quite a lot faster) but I don't think the 2 are really going to be that different to drive.

Fair point - it is just a more prominent topic now than then I guess. Number of units has increased a lot though, I suspect there are more 991.1 3RS units than 996 GT2/3 and RS cars taken together - a lot more people and more widely used plus Internet forums leads to it becoming more prominent

I'd wait until the offcial release details are announced before drawing any conclusions on this car. There wil be lot more to it than the leaked info suggests

My understanding is the the 992RS whenever it shows up wlll be a Turbo.

I hesitate to call this one "the last N/A RS" because Porsche often slips in an exotic 200 car runout special with all the bells and whistles which will become the latest must have collectible.

WP will come. People get hung up on ‘only’ 20hp change on the .3RS, but biggest change for me is the new engine and all the other suspenion tinkering that they would of carried out, but that new engine, wow, I can’t wait to actually sit down and Spec one, which I am fortnantly been given an allocation.

Wp is deff available and more changes than you think at last!
Viewing the mid engine rsr next week, there has to be a homologation special in the winds with the new big push on gt racing,of which its what the rs is truly all about.

As some some one said previous ,if one choses to drive the car! O dear what are we coming to.

Porsche Motorsport already have pushed a mid engined RSR through homologation without even requiring a waiver (which really shows the rules are nonsensical). I don't see why they need a new homologation special to be honest. What they really need is throwing more money at lobbying to get better BoP adjustments....

My little bet,

3RS.2 with WP option will be the last 991RS ( no other run out special due to time )..WP would be awesome, I would have it.

And PDK only. If so, will the manual guys with the GT3.2 stay put and not try for the RS.
