Wheels are easy to change. You can pick up 992 CS standard wheels for peanuts and get then painted whatever colour floats your boat. I might get some for winter. To get a set of beautiful, ED wheels with the platinum silver (that is in keeping with the T look), I'd rather do that. Each to their own. My BIGGEST thing about a T is, it should be a manual. Anyone going PDK on these is missing the point.
What point are we missing? That you prefer a manual so that’s what I should have spent my £115,248 on. You seem very self assured that you know best.

What if you hate driving manuals, but like the rest of the package?

You pay your money you make your own choice.

No one is right or wrong, as you say each to their own, and enjoy in good health!

Rather unusual collection day, or should that be non-collection day, for us today.

Paperwork all finalised on Thursday, final deposit paid yesterday ready for today’s collection. Got a call from OPC at 8am this morning. “Your finance application was sent for a random fraud check. Porsche Finance went home for the weekend without completing it - we can’t release your car until they reopen on Monday”. irked

Still went anyway. Completed all the handover stuff, paired phone, activated tracker etc. They offered to deliver car to home on Monday but it’s easier to go get it myself.

In the meantime, they’ve lent us a C4S Cab to keep us on the road.
Love it, looks great!

GT silver is classy, with the added bonus of being easier to keep looking clean, silver hides dirt, dust and micro scratches amazingly well.

Frustrating you couldn’t bring it home, enjoy on Monday!

Rather boringly this is one of the reasons we chose GT Silver, had it before on a 718. Looks good too.

Interesting how the T looks ‘classic 911’, and the Cab looks like a huge footballer’s wife’s toy.

That is amazing @neilf , enjoy the new car!

A bit of German admin inefficiency will make you appreciate the car better biggrin

Absolutely! No offence intended. Just my personal opinion. To your good health, sir! Enjoy your T :-)

Yeh, all good, also no tone from me intended.

I just thought you were selling your own choices a bit strong, suggesting that anything to the contrary was somehow a bit wrong.

I applaud you going with the minority choice gearbox and wheels rather than judge, as it will make it “yours”, which is what it’s all about! Takes all sorts, which is great.

On another subject, fair play to all of you using, or contemplating using these as daily’s! I’m finding it awesome as a weekend special treat, the sharpness of it all, the drama from the noise, but boy is it nice getting back into the serenity, comfort and mega hi-fi of the 4x4 during the week for the daily grind.

I’m getting old!

Thanks for the kind comments all. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

I agree the Cab (to my eyes) has a bit of a ‘hunchback’ issue compared to the Coupe to fit the roof mechanism, but it’s lovely to drive topless. I’ve had many Boxsters in the past and really enjoy roofless motoring but have never driven a Cabrio 911. That wind deflector is the work of witchcraft. Amazing.

Out of interest, do you have figures for the split? Would be interesting to know how significantly PDK outsells manual.

I don’t know where you would get stats like that, don’t know if Porsche eventually give out production numbers.

Back in July my OPC had a demo, mine was the first customer car, they had another customer car in build and their next demo ordered. All were PDK, although hardly a representative sample.

Just to make clear I am not dissing a manual gearbox, just that it isn’t for me and that now seems to be the general consensus. Ferrari didn’t discontinue it for fun, that was a commercial decision.

I have worked all my life in the motor trade with new company cars every. 3-6 months. My hatred of manual cars came from working with BMW and E46 and E39’s. Horrible notchy heavy short throw gearsticks with a really heavy and long travel clutch pedal that arced away up under the dash. Also they had a heavy flywheel effect and were quite difficult to drive smoothly in traffic. Just hard, hard work. If your new 328 or 525 turned up with a gearstick your heart sank, when it was auto it was a pleasurable few months.

Then we moved on to the newer gen stuff with the ZF 8 speed or dual clutches, they are incredible and do such a good job of things I couldn’t go back.

Interesting subject re longer term values for manuals. Less popular choices at the time tend to result in more value latter on as they are rarer, but there will come a point where the next generation can’t drive them. Kids will only have auto licenses as soon as the driving instructors have to move over to electric tuition cars, which probably isn’t as far away as it seems.

Anyway, potential an endless debate with no one being in the right or wrong. Buy what you like and enjoy.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t stoking debate, just genuinely interested in the numbers. How Many Left seems to list the “Auto” separately, but who knows how accurate that is. If it is accurate, the numbers are highly stacked in favour of the manual, but as you say, the market would suggest the PDK is more popular.
