Current market

Made an offer on a GT3 RS last week, a double digit percent lower offer admittedly - it's been on sale for over a year now with two dealerships, with it's current one since spring this year. It has asset finance on it and is on sale or return.
No ball. They came back with a less than 5% discount so at least are open to offers but it's still too much in my book.
Going to look at a private sale one this weekend instead.

Gt4 is an odd one in this market.
Great car, but virtually unusable on most British roads for 6 months out of 12. Expensive track toy really.
People thought they could buy one and not lose a penny.
9 months I would say decent use with PS4 tyres. Certainly not with cup2 ! Great car, but virtually unusable on most British roads for 6 months out of 12. Expensive track toy really.

981, one owner, 34,000 miles ... PS4's now fitted, Cup2's will be back on in April ... it's the most practical sports car I have ever owned. All my track day stuff lives in the front boot and I use the rear boot when I am travelling (or shopping) ....
Contrast and compare it to the 992 GT3RS where there is barely enough room for the driver, passenger and their helmets ?? There I would agree with you

Yip, thats all it takes. Everyone has their own thoughts on whats cheap or whats expensive, and for what it is, imo and probably most other people, thought that one was overpriced. The op obviously thought different. As i said, each to their own. Good luck to them hope they drive and enjoy it.
Off topic but I would agree the GT4 is pretty useable nearly all year round. From my experience with the 981 version I did my PEC on a cold wet day and on the cup2s the car felt very comfortable and controllable. I picked my new car up on a very cold January morning no problems driving in those conditions either. Remember the cup2s are far better than the tyres fitted to most cars back in the 80s/90s!
Always drive to the conditions no matter what car you are driving.
Some said the same about the 987Spyder and its roof yet I drove back from the airport in absolute stinker of a storm and the roof never leaked and then there is a fella who posts on here who has done like 120k miles in his as a daily.
Problem is most modern Porsche GT buyers don’t like taking their cars out the garage and doing miles in case it affects the value!

Agreed, especially with the names mentioned hence why I said many not all buyers! A lot of Gt products have been bought over the last few years by flippers, speculators and those who cannot afford but only because of PCP and low interest rates, hence the low miles on many cars for sale! Some of those names you mention were also frozen out of buying the latest models due to the way allocations have been given over the last few years!
Cossers, absolutely hits the nail on the head here. I couldn’t agree more. Back in the day, I bought a mint, used 996.2 GT3 at an OPC as my daily driver. Paid £52,000 in 2007 as I recall. It was a 40th birthday present to myself. I picked it up in February and drove it virtually every day. Loved it! And fully expected it to fall steeply in value just like every other car I’d owned. And it duly did. That was the price of pleasure and I was happy to pay it. I’d done the same with a used 993 C4S a few years earlier. When the 981 GT4 was announced I tried to get one from the same OPC and failed. Ditto the first 991 GT3. Was basically told I had no chance and I left Porsche and bought a Ferrari. I’m rambling on…but I confess it did rather bother me that people were getting GT cars ahead of me (and other enthusiasts, for want of a better word) and flipping them, not driving them. I know, boo hoo and all that. But a return to normality is surely both welcome and overdue.

I see the same dealer , eden group, that i enquired about the silver one above has dropped the price of the white one they have in. Things starting to move i hope.
I be tempted on the white one at £55k
this one? that Autotrader tracker is a brilliant thingI be tempted on the white one at £55k
The silver one that they also had i see if no longer advertised on their website so must be gone also.
They both didnt hang around long after their latest price drops.
Started at 67k in Feb, re-advertised and now down to 54,500.

Remember the days of the fella who had the 997Gt3 who used it to cross continents delivering I think plane parts, it racked up something like 150k! Was really enjoyable to read instead of correct flippers spec. and stitching!
Look forward to reading your 150k mile GT3 experiences when you eventually buy one.... :bigmowley said:
Sorry but that is rubbish. Totally fine all year round. Winter tyres in winter, Cup 2s the rest of the time.
GT4
Spyder
Everyone I’ve asked with a GT4 if I could daily one says no. GT4
Spyder
No front lift, front splitter becomes a disposable item and one driving mode (track). Gearing doesn’t really suit road driving either.
I love them and if I thought I’d get away with one I would.

You could easily daily one I'd say, though I'd personally rather daily something a little softer. The gearing is long and it frustrated me a bit at times, but it's not a fatal flaw. The buckets would probably irk me day-to-day, but there's plenty without that option. Otherwise the only thing I really didn't like was the cylinder deactivatoin mode on a cruise. It droned a bit.No front lift, front splitter becomes a disposable item and one driving mode (track). Gearing doesn’t really suit road driving either.

Strange market at present for 718 GT4s though - even quite a bit below 80k decent cars are hanging around a bit.
