Interesting to see the 996 gt3 rs on with Ashgoods has come back into the market after initially being sold straight away.
Anyone in here shed any light?
.

The car has sold but new owner wants the 997.2 RS that's just come upfor sale hence back on the market in the hope of buying that one.

the new 4.0 makes the Mezger fee meh imo.
Those toytown engines are ok, better off with the real deal though IMO.
In comparison, they sound synthetic, artificial, somehow. I cannot put my finger on it.

Yes. Sold by a poster on here.

Car was supplied new with no graphics. Rivieria blue decals are stuck on over the PPF and the original black wheels are still with the car too.

The new engine is pretty good. I'm sure that it has the potential to share the same status as the Metz - once it achieves the same number of race wins.

So hall of fame in 2050 then?...

Some might argue, but unfortunately the car is very much collector status. I firmly held this view and was mindful to retain the RS's originality. Ok, I was looking for a visual change and personalised it Re the Riviera but keeping the car 100% factory was paramount to me. Subsequently, this cost a small fortune ie purchasing additional RS rims and new Michelins. Also new mirrors, as these had to be painted and again, I wanted to keep the original fitment ones in factory form to be able to revert back to original status quickly and without compromise.
So the idea of further colour coding was not really on the cards. I wouldn't of even considered undoing a trim screw or clip!
The cars rarity and perfection Re condition was a wonderful ownership proposition, as it is now, but also held me back from using. It didnt help that I am the equivalent 'Howard Hughes' car keeper custodian - Concours, the best without compromise or forget it !
So time to maybe buy something else and get some seat time

Will be missed like no other but the right decision for me personally

Doesn't look too shabby in all Motorsport Carrera white with zero decals. As it was ordered !

I do not dislike it, but - and this is understandable given the very significant time and changes to emissions legislation between the development of the two engines - it is different. Let's say they both have different qualities. They are not the same though, for sure.

Buy w 996 GT3 RS now before they all end up with collectors.

Not many C16 UK cars left in the country I would guess.

First ever water cooled RS surely deserves a posi position in Porsche history books

It’s where the GT3 RS all started. And how bloody well have they aged. Love them

If you assume that the 996 Gen 1 GT3 Clubsport was not the RS of this variant.

Electrical cut-out inside and outside the car, single mass flywheel, fire extinguisher in the footwell, full roll cage, Nomex seats ... possibly built at Weissach ?

I'd be interested if anybody can confirm or deny the latter ... Weissach certainly had capacity since they only built 2 GT3R's in 1999 ... 32 ? in 2000 .. and the 993RSR and GT2 were finished by then.

???

These were £60k back in 2009. What's the best guess as to where they are heading from current circa £130k down from £150k 3 years ago?

But they go so well on circuit.

From Zandvoort earlier in the week.
The RS is standard apart from brakes. The GT3 is standard engine/gearing but with uprated suspension.
However the lower weight of the RS a few more ponies somewhat evident when exiting corners. Next time I'm going to have to remove some weight! - front cage, heavy fire extinguisher, etc

All I know is having been fortunate to have owned a few GT products over the years the one I've never even considered selling is my 96RS. I've recently had it "re" set up for more road biased use at CG and I've fallen in love with it all over again....
