I think I'm on about 147k now. It's had an upgraded IMS at some stage, but engine and box remain as they were the day it rolled off the line bar the clutch

Mine is 169 617 although it had a new engine on warranty at Porsche Exeter in 2008 when the mileage was 63k miles, so engine wise it's at nigh on 107k.

Would I be right in thinking that an '08 engine would have the later, stronger IMS fitted? scratchchin

Definitely looks like gold , don’t think the black wheels do it any favours

Much as I like boxster red I just think the steering wheels don't look their best in that colour either.

On an other note, I have never seen a double DIN Radio, or any Radio for that matter, mounted in the lower center console.
Looks odd to me.

Also, not a nice colour and in combination with the amber lights, black wheels and red interior with body coloured console not a car I would consider owning. And I do like weird combinations like nephrite interior against a black exterior!

ETA:
Also tinted windows - including the side ones frown - are an other big no.

I don't mind a vibrant interior though probably agree, that would suit a grey , black or maybe dark blue exterior better.

The double DIN thing in that looks a nightmare. I presume that the panel above is now just a blanking plate. Looks like it would be a right pain to operate and see the screen with the gearstick right there in front of it. To be honest, position aside, any of those third party double DIN units never look right in any car to me. Good in terms of adding functionality but always look so obviously out of sorts with the rest of the dash.

That must be some DIY job, as you say unusual. Can't say the exterior colour does anything for me, bit too early noughties lexus IMO.

I'm of the exact same opinion as you are!
Equally important to me is the graphics of such a device, as well as the look when the radio is off. (no, having the Porsche crest as a wallpaper doesn't make it look oem)
Also the integration with BC, etc. But I do know that I'm a bit anal with these sort of things and I know a lot of people have other priorities and are happy with a cheap after market radio/Naviceiver.

The only double DIN Radio I'd consider in a 996 is the new-ish PCCM+ from Porsche.
But I'd probably just fit an OEM Becker CDR-22 and have a central console delete, if I'd have a 996.

Can't wait for the PCCM+ for my 997, that is hopefully coming next year tough!

rusty arches but new motor 60k miles ago. Seller claims it's a 3.6 too which is a bit interesting. Not bad for 14k.
