To change the subject slightly Has anyone used " Paintshield Ltd " from Peterborough for Film Protection to their car. My GT3.2 is coming in Guard's Red
and I am keen to have it protected prior to running it on the road or track.

Also I am considering having the car detailed prior to the film going on & have been recommended to Francis from " Emerald Detailing " any comments would be most appreciated.
My 991GT3 didn't have PPF. 6,000 miles later I'll just say OhDear! My GT3RS in Lava was totally covered with the stuff; 6000 miles later the car was sold by my OPC with no paint required. Topaz detailed and applied the PPF which was all completed at the dealership prior to collection. Very happy Man, I would highly recommend their services.smile

I have had my 981 Spyder fully PPF by Paintsheld and also i had Francis who detailed the car before the film was applied. Cant fault either at all and would use again for all my cars.

Try Max Protect in Kings Langley, they do all types of detailing work, paint correction etc. and are Xpel approved, they also look after all the JZM cars. I have been using them for years for all my cars and would highly recommend them.

I was at the PEC yesterday....not for a GT3 day sadly. My instructor said they didn't know when they were getting cars yet...the red press car has been there for a few days here and there but that's it.

To get this thread back to its normal divisive opinionated self how many GT3 buyers who are going with manual would switch to PDK if sport auto-blip was unavailable..!. I'll start it off by saying the fact i chose manual over PDK by the narrowest of margins is primarily because auto-blip is available.I have it on my GT4 and after initial misgivings i now love it especially when pressing on.
I see no cons as it has to be switched on and offers some of the benefit of PDK allowing better concentration for braking, steering etc...However i'm the first to admit i have no multi-tasking abilities and find heel and toeing difficult to modulate well on my GT4 due to the height of the PCCB brake pedal.
I also believe that the new GT3 also prevents rev fall off on upshifts which is an additional benefit imho.

Let the battle commence wink

I had the same issue in everyday driving due to the height of the brake pedal. When you are on track and just pressing hard on it less of an issue as I then find it easier to modulate/coordinate the blip. But in casual everyday when you just brushing it, it can be more challenging.

Although am sure it's me who's physically, socially and coordination challenged. But I am happy auto-blip is offered.

Having previously enjoyed the delights of a 991.1 GT3 with PDK, then a GT4 I have anguished over which box to choose. Both will be fantastic. I've just confirmed my order for a manual and have to admit that the rev matching was definitely a factor. It works so well in the GT4 that if it was optional it would be one of the first boxes to be ticked.
I realise there are many that pour scorn on such 'aids' but I love it.

It's a good point....I am not sure about the auto blip. On my manual 997 GTS I have found that H&T is much easier for road driving when the "Sport" mode is selected because all it really does is sharpen up the throttle a bit and thus makes H&T that bit easier when not pushing the car hard. Not driven a GT4 with auto blip or indeed any Porsche with it...I reckon it would annoy me a bit...I'd like the sharper throttle response and be able to decide on auto blip separately. That way you'd get the best of both worlds....

I know someone's going to say why bother with H&T at road speeds as you don't need to worry about the balance of the car being unsettled on downshifts,....but that's not the point...I extract an unusual amount of pleasure from H&T'ing!

As I said somewhere else the instructor I had at PEC on Monday thought I was bonkers going manual.

Interesting, what was your original date? Any reason or speculation given? Also, I guess you haven't locked your spec yet, but if so was there anything wierd or wonderful to create a delay?

Cheers.

I enjoy the blip when driving on the road. As you say, it'll be easier on track when you're braking much harder more of the time.
I went for manual because I like changing gear. I've spent a lot of time in both PDK / DCT and manual cars on great roads over the past few years and I always come back to a manual box for road driving. The GT3 is that quick that you just end up firing through the gears and before you know it, you're well into 3 figures. At least with a manual you're able to enjoy another aspect of the car and you have a little more to do and get involved in.

Having said that, if I was living in a built up area and didn't have such superb access to great roads, I would probably go PDK as at weekends I'd be heading to a track for lack of good roads to drive.

PDK probably suits the car and manic engine better though and it certainly seems popular with people who are spec'ing.

All the sport button does is activate auto-blip, it doesn't sharpen the throttle on a GT4 unlike in most other cars with a Sport button.
Ah..didn't know that!

And activates the 3rd radiator before I get shot down for forgetting that one wink

Auto blip works very well and for those that don't have the H&T skills or can't be arsed to learn, it adds another little layer of drama!
You can look bit of a pleb in town thought when changing down to stop a the traffic lights WHAAAAAAAAMMMMMM! I switch it off!

Interesting item in Junes Car magazine article comparing the 1.2 GT3 with an AMG GT R:

"Or if you fancy something a little lower-key than the GT3, look out for the X90 Touring Pack version. Only available in manual transmission form, it trades in the flash wingwork and the racy interior for the more subtle aero kit of the discontinued 911 R and a period leather-with-corduroy trim."

Anybody seen this?

There's been a lot of talk about a Touring version and a mule spotted but never heard that much detail!
