Ah mine lives outside so I have had the charger and extension plug in the bonnet and the the mains cable running through the opening by the badge with the bonnet on the latch, although this is with a proper charger when the battery went flat.
I've now just reclaimed the ctek so was looking for a better alternative than leave the bonnet like that.
I didn't want to leave the frunk on the latch so over lockdown I kept the CTEK plugged into the extension in one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-IP54-Weatherpr... Then run the lead from the CTEK into the cabin, plug it into the cigarette lighter, and close & lock the door.I've now just reclaimed the ctek so was looking for a better alternative than leave the bonnet like that.
If you'd rather plug directly into the battery that's easy as well, just run the CTEK lead under the top of the bonnet.
The box was 100% waterproof but you could tuck the the box under the car so it stays even dryer if you're feeling paranoid. But overall a great solution for those of us with cars that live outside.

What do we reckon this early Carrera with dealer fitted aerokit will go for given the miles etc.?

Not an early 996 (sorry) but this thread has been an absolute mine of useful information. I picked the car up today and immediately realised I've been wasting my motoring life up until now. It just feels so alive and small. I have had the PCCM+ fitted which is a gamechanger. Off for a long trip to Sussex over the weekend to give it a proper run. Can't wait!

I'd like to see 20 but I'm concerned it is only 12 right now. I guess with buyers premium it should get over 18k as a minimum, I hope so anyway.https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1998-porsche-9...

Why has it got a GT3 badge on the rear? what am I missing there then? https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1998-porsche-9...

The badging of aerokit equipped Carreras as GT3 seems a bit more common than it should be IMO....my C4 with aerokit had not only an OEM GT3 badge on the back when I bought it nearly 5 years ago, but also carbon effect GT3 door sill protectors!! Needless to say they've been removed MrC986 said:

86 pages of frothing at the mouth PH’ers with similar pointless concerns as to what others do with their cars, to be found here. Knock yourselves out :

Strange that the fitment of a tiny badge featuring two letters and a number to the back of a 996 elicits such strong, negative emotions, yet the fitment of what is to all intents and purposes a GT3 bodykit to a C2 or C4 appears to have precisely the opposite effect ...

It just proves how easy going the Porsche owners on here are compared to BMW "M Series" owners https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Was the Carrera Aerokit available to spec on cars before the GT3 became available to buy. Or was it designed knowing it would go on the GT3 and made available earlier for the base cars ?. Other than the black coloured gurney strip is there any difference between the two kits ?

The non GT3 aerokit front bumper centre cooling vent is blanked off. Though I think I’m right in saying it’s made functional on Tiptronic transmission equipped cars.GT6 Jonsey said:

Yes it was available. In the recent Chris Harris interview with the RS leader he said the 996.1 GT3 used the aero kit and not the other way round - they had a limited budget Edited by GT6 Jonsey on Sunday 27th February 10:30
