Yes, I have.
It tends to be hit and miss. First few times I was ok - then more recently I've been black flagged a couple of times. Once it was for breaking 107dB driveby which was a bit surprising!
I now keep a set of silencer tips in the boot and slip them on if I get warned. Fearnsport normally has them in stock. They replace the std rear tips so need a couple of spanners to install but after that noise limit is not an issue.
Is that for the 997?It tends to be hit and miss. First few times I was ok - then more recently I've been black flagged a couple of times. Once it was for breaking 107dB driveby which was a bit surprising!

I'm tripping 105 static now. Do Fearnsport have something similar for a 996? Can't see anything on their website.

Yes 997. They replace the std tips and so are a bolt on jobbie.I'm tripping 105 static now. Do Fearnsport have something similar for a 996? Can't see anything on their website.
I've seen some cans for a 996 over the years but do not know who does them.

Yes 7.2rs. I was with lasource when he got a talking to by the sound police at SS which was the first I'd ever seen anyone getting a telling off there for
I was rather proud of the flypast photo they generate before looking for you in the pitlane As mentioned above, weather and proximity of other cars must make a difference, plus possibly either SS have lowered their limit or are enforcing it more diligently now.

Sadly, across the board.I remember doing a sprint at Goodwood in my TVR Griffith. At the time, it was totally unsilenced, save for the catalytic converters, and very loud. I triggered the noise meter on a practice run and the marshal came over to talk. He was a proper old boy, his overalls covered in various motorsport event badges and patches and was wearing a Monaco GP Marshal's cap, so knew his stuff.
I asked him where the meter was, and he said he wasn't supposed to say, but then proceeded to explain it was on the exit of Madgwick and suggested using a higher gear. Worked a treat, in fact, short-shifting to 4th, rather than grabbing it on the exit was easily faster. Doubt he could have that approach these days.

Cheers, I will get a set just in case. You doing the 5th? See you there if so...It tends to be hit and miss. First few times I was ok - then more recently I've been black flagged a couple of times. Once it was for breaking 107dB driveby which was a bit surprising!

Hi All,
Booked onto the PCGB days at Donnington and Silverstone next month, first time on the track in the 991.2 rs so had a couple of questions.
1. The car is on the michelins, what rough pressures are people starting the day on? i know this is weather related but would ideally like a baseline.
2. is the track precision app useable? is it a plug and play job or do i need some kind of extra in the car, dont really want to be faffing with it on the day, was thinking about a go pro on the cage as an alternative.
3. has anybody messed with the aero on their cars, i know the spoiler in adjustable but will probably leave it stock for the first outings to get a feel for the car
any other tips would be well received
TIA

Generally, with Cup 2's check immediately after each of the first two or three sessions, as the tyres heat up, and let some air out to set the hot pressure at roughly the suggested cold pressures.TIA
Yes Digga has it about right ..... go out do 2 laps at reasonable pace come in drop pressures to 30/31 then do a 4-5 lap session and drop again , then that is fine for the day on Michelin , Dunlops may need a further check .
Track App , is a bit more difficult as have never really got it to work properly ... but then I guess I spend too much time shooting the breeze with the guys .
Aero , went higher downforce at SS , and not really felt much difference but I see the Manthy set up is higher downforce so guess it must work if was a better driver .
Looked at the Cocker video at SS , and was only 1 kph down on the Hanger and 4-5 going into Copse , and exactly same limes and kerbs ridden but he was over 10 secs faster a lap ..... ohh well , time to do more with the understeer issue

Cup2R. You need to pay to play at the very quick end of laptimes hunter 66 said:

Good points.I too had been watched other comparable laps for my own car (997 platform) and in places (like approach to Farm), I'm actually faster than cars that are lapping quicker than me. Lap times are elusive!
But I think you have it; it feels it's in the entry/apex understeer, where I could improve most.
Back at SS next month for a re-match.

Just picked up the RS on Thursday resplendent in extended PPF and coinciding with Wales lockdown being fully lifted last Monday..Remind me again which day you are at SS next month..Is it the PCGB day or a Silverstone day itself.?I too had been watched other comparable laps for my own car (997 platform) and in places (like approach to Farm), I'm actually faster than cars that are lapping quicker than me.
