The people who actually buy them and intend keeping them buy what they want. This is predominantly PDK comfort.
I bought one and definitely intend keeping it and it's Manual CS. Each to their own! I'll admit PH is not typically frequented by people that buy PDK Comfort Spec cars.....nothing new though 997 GT3 threads are all about CS vs Comfort.

Pretty sure the GT3 manual option was a late addition, as the order process seemed to back up, so to say the car was designed around PDK is most likely correct.
I suspect that the decision to offer the 6-spd manual in the 991.2 GT3 was made following the reaction to the 'PDK only' 991.1 GT3.

Putting it in the 911R was just a taster, and the reaction to that was so positive, with enormous unsatisfied demand, that its eventual appearance in the next GT3 was inevitable.

However, there is no certainty we will see it again in future GT3s

Agreed, but unlike the R the 991.2 GT3 was most likely in development with PDK only until the R (and probably the GT4) demand became known.

Purely guesswork of course, but if it was always going to have the option of a manual why were early allocations PDK only?

Oct 17 car. Now has 4.5k miles including 2 Oulton days and one at Anglesey. Next up is Donnington in July. However, I took something a little different to the wide open spaces of Silverstone earlier in the month.

Just countering your "everybody wants a manual"
never said anything like that, every one wants PDK ! prob only 50 odd manuals sold in the UK.

I said every review so far the driver would take the manual.

Of course it was designed to have a manual the R had it and that was design to have it.

nothing new here it's a R wit ha better engine and more down force, just missing the lighter body work bits from the RS.

I'd imagine supply issues for the gearbox. Car was launched and confirmed as having a manual gearbox option in March 2017, manual gearboxes were first delivered in Sep 17 IIRC....they'd never have announced it in March 2017 if it was still in development.

Supply issues due to late addition to the spec most likely wink

I think you'll find it was the yellow deviated stitching that caused delays more than the manual gearbox. Although it was definitely worth it...lifts the interior and deletes the stripe. And judging by the fact that the only option you can't find on the multitude of GT3's that are currently for sale it's clearly THE must have option biggrinthumbup

Thought so. As we all know opinions on PH are all bias bullst ;-)

Have you driven a Manual 991 GT3, a 981 Spyder and Cayman R or a 987.2 Spyder all with proper tyres on them ?
Just out of interest :-) so we can see if your opinions mean much going forward :-)

Finally picked up my car last Thursday! It must be one of the last (non RS) cars to be delivered. What a car, couldn't be happier, unfortunately only driven it about 50 miles so far, but have a long road trip planned to the South of France and back in September. So a bit early for initial impressions as running it in, but the motor has loads of torque, folding buckets I find much more comfortable than the fixed buckets in my GT4, manuel is just perfect (GTS 7 speed pretty good, but I much prefer this box). What a special car to own and enjoy, amazes me how many are for sale, how could you bring yourself to part with such a special car. One quick question, sports exhaust does not seem to make much difference at lower revs, only when the valve opens around 4k rpm which is max for the moment with run in - is that right? Bit of gear stick movement in 4th gear, but not that much so I don't think an issue. Can't wait to get some more miles on it....

Nice spec...Manual, Folding Buckets and No Cage. Very considered box ticking has gone on there.

Mine's got the loose play in 4th too....it doesn't really bother me but then I was driving my 997 GTS to the station this morning which has absolutely no play in 4th whatsoever and made me think more about it. Mine's going in to RPM in a couple of weeks for a running in oil change...think I'll ask them what they think as I am sure they'll have seen a few by now.

So, the PDK-Sport button....

I thought it was gearbox settings only, but also find the in-gear torque delivery to be much more aggressive?

Placebo or fact?

I also have a PDK new gen GT3 and have not noticed a change in Sport in terms of power delivery.
I'll experiment next time to see..If its there then another interesting snippet of info Porsche failed to disclose.
