Listening to a Motor Trend (US car channel) journalist talking on a Podcast earlier....GT3 will be firmer ride than 991.2 GT3 which is what you would expect from the new suspension set up. He also said the Touring is going to have softer suspension that the car with the Wing.
I presume the suspension will be firmer on the windy one as it has to cope with 150% more downforce vs the previous generation. With little improvement in downforce will the Touring be similar to the 991.2Touring? Same engine, just more tech.. maybe 991.2 GT3 is peak Touring!
Porsche should make an interchangeable Touring/ Wing car , electronic settings ... drive around town in soft limo mode then put the wing on .. with 4 easy clips and off to track day , resettle suspension on arrival ....
Could even number them 1- 10,000 so the are better "overs"
Simply really

Yes I know but my post was on the basis most won't be receiving a car until next Spring when the Tourings are trickling through so there should be a degree of choice especially as there may be 800 cars this time approx 400 of each. (Although judging off the much lower than expected 718 GT4 and Spydee numbers this may be wildly optimistic)
I'm not too bothered about a car this time but if one comes along next year I would go winged every time.
Hope you are keeping well btw.
Some clients were offered the choice of first batch winged or to wait for the Touring.I'm not too bothered about a car this time but if one comes along next year I would go winged every time.

Our friends on Rennlist seem to think that the wing is easily removable on the 992GT3. Their view is the wing is similar to the 992GT3 Cup car, easily detached, not sure you would want to go flat out through Copse without the wing but may be suitable for B roads. Apparently first cars will get to the UK about May
Second allocation will be later this year and should be double first allocation so OPC will get 6 winged cars and probably 3 touring cars.
Allocation will be split like the GT4/spyder, they think. So two GT3's for each touring.
Next year they expect to get more cars, so I should be able to get one next year without buying the 10K watch!!
So if they get 12 cars this year you have to guess that they are getting 16 cars next year hopefully.
Flippers better be quick or it could finish like the GT4's where you can now get one under list.
I keep looking at GT4's they now look good value, but I will wait for a GT3.

So by your calculations over a standard 2 year production run for the 992 GT3 there will be an incredibly high number c40 cars per OPC i.e. 1720 cars for the UK.??!
Also the only limited number 718 GT4s slightly under list price ££ are understandably the early 2019 'high' mileage weird/poverty spec comfort cars mainly at Indies.
Some dealers are bigger than other but lets say 7 winged cars this year times 40 dealers = 280 winged GT3's
2022 lets average it out at 10 winged GT3's thats 400 winged GT3
You would imagine another 5 cars in 2023 so that 200 winged GT3's
So 880 Winged GT3's
My dealer got 16 991.1 GT3RS cars. so if you times that by 40 that is 640 GT3RS cars, someone will know how many gen 1 GT3RS where delivered into the UK????? Please let me know.
Touring cars will be considered a separate car, makes sense to Porsche to do that, so I would guess at 440 touring cars.
Porsche now knows there is big demand for the touring. Like AP says, 'We,(Porsche) aim to produce one less car than the market demands.'
All just guess work, that's what makes the forum interesting.
The more cars the better in my opinion.

According to how many left there were 310 991.1 GT3 RS...back then I think 36 OPC so an average of 8.
We got something like 650 991.2 GT3’s...you are suggesting the volume trebles ? Have a look at how many 911’s Porsche sell in the UK...you’re suggesting GT3 becomes the volume model.

I am not suggesting volume trebles, if there were 650 .2 GT3's as you say above, I am suggesting there will be 800 to 850 is that not an expected increase in turnover for a very popular model?According to how many left there were 310 991.1 GT3 RS...back then I think 36 OPC so an average of 8.

And another poster has just said his dealer has two car in first run then 5/6 cars later in the year, so that ties in with what I said.
8x40 dealers is 320 cars this year.
My understanding is that, whatever an OPC is given as an initial allocation, this is normally a conservative figure.
Because, with the possible exception of ultra-rare/‘limited no.’ models, Porsche normally offer extra allocations through the course of the year, as production, demand and territorial sales become more evident.

Enough of this allocation waffle... some engineering please....

Can someone clarify which engine is in the new 992, as far as I am aware its the .2 GT3 engine that went into the Speedster and bumped up to 510hp.
It is the exact same engine along with ITBs and GPFs as fitted to the Speedster with the same 510PS. The RS WP has also got the same engine albeit with better breathing/tuning to release another 10PS or so.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
