FWIW it is interesting to note that the forthcoming, limited edition, track-only 935 will have steel brakes as standard. 380mm front rotors, according to the report in Porsche Post - so the same as a GT3 with PCCB.
PCCB front rotors are 410mm. Also I think one can safely assume the 935 will be running the slotted 380mm Cup rotors, not the standard drilled 380 road car rotor.
I should have said 380mm on a PCCB 997 GT3.

Recently bought a Golf R too and have to say it’s a great car to sit alongside the GT3. And you’re right the adaptive cruise and lane departure are appreciated.

When I got the GT3 I thought about trading my GTS and getting a Golf R to sit alongside it, but I concluded that the GTS would be perfect alongside the GT3 and wouldn’t cost much more over three years! Did I get the maths right? smile

Another recent convert - bought an R estate for SWMBO to replace her trusty but tired Yeti. Really impressed with it, very refined and sensible, but also fun when required. Currently enjoying the sun in Cornwall.

Proton who Yellow , has spent a bit of time with .... life every component in extremis , hence sure even the latest RSR would get new discs and pas every meeting . RSR models have steadily become much more specific race cars but the big change was with even the first 991 RSR and the current one has moved that on , but they only make 10-15 or so cars , with only 3-4 customer car teams globally . Back in 996 times hundreds were made..
Yes hunter they do,a lot is around insurance for the driver,so everything has to be done to factory spec to allow factory pilots in the car, they are not even allowed to do a chassis repair it must be a new shell.
The rsr discs and calipers are nothing special apart from ti pistons, fairly standard brembo race parts. You just cant beat cast iron disc for life of.

Mine is also an estate. Spacious yet compact enough for central London, AWD, Automatic, very practical. Man Logic rather than Man Maths at work.

You got the man maths just right imo. Biggest regret was selling my 991.2GTS at the beginning of the year. Should have run it alongside the GT3 but already had a Boxster GTS and Macan Turbo PP. GTS is a fabulous car and the perfect daily. SWMBO was in agreement so I really have no excuses. 🙈

Macan has gone now and I may chop the Boxster for another 911GTS in the new year. Just gets a bit expensive all the chopping cars every few months so I’m being co trolled atm. 😂

Golf needs to be a keeper for a while but you’ve definitely got the top garage with a GT3 & 991.2GTS.
I SALUTE YOU SIR!! 🙇‍♂️

Thanks. It was actually my wife who said I should keep the GTS! Can’t argue with that.

It's interesting how many people in this chat after they move on their 991.2 GTS in particular miss it more than others.
Is it the combination of useable performance and balance or is it something more than that?
Think it's astonishing now that without any specific mods you can get 500-520bhp with a map too which would make it more potent than 997 turbo of old!!!

Golf R is underrated car too in debugged guises as it floats around in anonymity but when you need to to get somewhere at the flick of a switch you can light it up and it becomes a b road destroyer (at least in hatchback form - the estate handling is only marginally different due to extra weight over the rear. biggrindriving

Of the Porker owners on here how many of you have actually opted for manuals? and how many opted for DSG (I know estate is DSG only on Mk7s)
From friends that have them all say the DSG is much much better suited to the car and drivetrain (although it needs bigger paddles to be more involving)!!!

Hope you are well K biggrin
And haven't got stung by too much dealer margin wink

The 991.2gts is possibly the best car I’ve ever owned but it needs an aftermarket exhaust to perfect it. It’s just too quiet for me and to be a special event.

As a daily though or if you could only have one car, it’s hard to beat.

Love my GTS as well, need to have the sports exhaust button pressed though.

My everyday car is a posh little Audi A3 auto, 1.5 petrol, great for whizzing around and no one really notices if you are driving enthusiastically.

Evening R. I didn’t have mine for very long so I didn’t look into it. I’d be interested to know too...

The GTS is IMO definitely the best vfm 991. I’d even say a standard C2 or C2S is all the car you’d ever want, but the GTS offers a lot more kit / power for not much more dosh. I’ve driven a few 991.2 GTSs, in both manual and PDK and it is a great car. Yeah it hasn’t got that last 20% that the GT3 has got, but the initial 80% is a better ride. GT3 has to be driven hard (20% zone) or not at all. IMO.

Phooey, That’s the perfect description of the two cars. I’m lucky to have both, and driven both today and that 80/20 description is spot in. You should be on Top Gear. Don’t get me started on Flintoff/McGuiness....

Haha cheers Spy. GT3 & GTS great combo mate!

Also, for me a big part of ownership and enjoyment is how the car looks. The GT3 looks the dogs bks. The GTS looks the part too - I like my 911’s wide.

I haven’t driven one yet, but secretly I think a T could be all the car I’d ever want or need. I can see myself buying one as a keeper. I need something to love after the honeymoon period has expired.

You are right. Side by side, the GT3T looks on another level. Really, there’s something about the T that means I could just sit and stare all day long. I’m sure the T is wider than GTS.

I know it’s virging on heresy in these parts but I absolutely love my Macan Turbo PP as a daily driver alongside my GT3, I know it’s not as much fun a a 991.2 GTS is going to be on a country road but it’s an awful lot better than it has any right to be....it really shrinks around you and has a proper turn of pace for an SUV.....when you want the comfortable motorway cruiser it’s very, very good at that and bizarrely rides better than our Cayenne. I’d say given it’s breadth of abilities it’s pretty much the best car Porsche make....way more fun to drive than a Panny or a Cayenne and in a straight line it’s as quick as a Carrera T.

Sorry mate, I mean the standard bodied Carrera T. If you take price out of everything I think the T would just hit the right buttons for my kicks. I’d need to see a wider price gap between the T and GTS to buy one though. Psychologically the GTS offers so much more and greed would make me buy the GTS although the T would probably do the (my) ‘job’ better.

I sat in a Macan Turbo PP Edition yesterday and must admit the cabin was very nice. Quality feel. £89k though. I drove one of the first Macan Turbos when they were launched (borrowed it for 2 days) and was hooked on the pace off the lights and also the ability to go round roundabouts like it was a sports car. Definitely rewrote the SUV rule book.

I test drove a Macan GTS to run as a daily alongside the GT3, it was perfect for my needs but part of the appeal of a daily is not having to care about it too much and as a value proposition it’s nowhere compared to a £35k Golf R Estate that’s comparable on space and speed.
