The LHD and RHD prices seem to be converging for the 4.0s. This is a nice car but they make it sound as if it has the most desirable spec - which it has not.
"The specification is that of a car that one might classify as “Touring” whereby the optional equipment doesn’t feature a cumbersome rollcage, awkward harnesses or hard seats"
Proper sales b......t.
Yes if it had those things it would be "complete with essential roll cage for track officionados, complemented by the all important harness and iron-hard bucket seats for the ultimate racing pedigree" "The specification is that of a car that one might classify as “Touring” whereby the optional equipment doesn’t feature a cumbersome rollcage, awkward harnesses or hard seats"

It has folding buckets, which are IMHO the seat of choice. Beyond that, I doubt that many people who were prepared to spend £275k on a car would be unduly put off by a further £4k to have a factory cage and harnesses installed it they were planning to take it on track. Objectively though - what proportion of the people buying these now will be looking to track them I wonder? Some certainly, but I strongly doubt that it will be the majority of prospective customers.
The biggest negative for me would be that they have gone for the red alcantara pack, of which I personally am not a fan. But again - at this price point it matters little indeed.

The red seats do look cheap. It is strange how the cars you see on eBay which have been "enhanced" in dubious taste get laughed at and when Porsche do it it's different. hornbaek said:
I quite like the red alcantara seat inserts as it lightens up an otherwise all black interior - but then I am biased.
Do you also have the red headliner though? That was where the red interior really went wrong for me but they don't all have that (also the hardest bit to swap out).Did you spec it and if not, would you have done so if you had (without benefit of hindsight)?

Yes, I also have the red headliner, but to be honest i had to go into the garage to check as i couldn't remember so that tells you that it is not too intrusive. I did spec it at the time (ticked all the options - except telephone module) to be a bit different and would not change it a bit. Fair enough - it isn't as if it is possible to make them bad - it is just preference at the end of the day. Personally I would have wanted paint to sample if I were ticking the boxes, but I guess launch colour is always safe and you wouldn't have had to wait until the end of the production run for it?Slickhillsy said:

Interesting... Are we seeing the price convergance towards the pricer RHD end or the 'cheaper LHD end of the market?Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
