cheers guys for the kind words. I think the niggle in the back of my head and the reason for rejection is possibly down to the fact that the original car was ex-demo. I have no idea how it was treated in its early days, and despite the bomb proof warranty, i didn't want to have a vehicle that wasn't treated well in its early days. Adding to that; the fact that i had taken it back to them with the same issues only four weeks earlier and they hadn't diagnosed it at that stage led me to believe they were negligent - or at least careless - in their original diagnosis, and thus this gave me more credibility to my rejection.

just an update to close this off. Took the vehicle back to sheffield on monday. Within the first 5 miles it had produced plenty of blue smoke at a roundabout and some erratic idling. Stopped for a ciggie on the snake pass and started the car to yet more smoke. Car delivered to the dealer with the affirmation that i had lost all faith in the product and i wasn't prepared to drive this vehicle again, and it was up to them how they resolved the situation by the end of the day. The upshot of it is that they confirmed that one of the turbos had given up the ghost and they were instructed by porsche to replace that and a raft of other items to bring it back to working order. This is a little concerning on a car with 11k on it.

With the message clear that i wasn't taking this car back, the dealer worked hard to secure the right deal for me to retain me as a customer. A deal was done and I'm delighted to say that i picked this up yesterday...

This was a cancelled customer order as he had been offered a GTS build slot and didn't want to lose that. At first i was concerned with the colour, but 24 hours later I'm delighted with it. I honestly believe that it will become a collectors colour in years to come. The reaction from people is amazing; so much more than my white one. OPC Sheffield did a great job from a customer service point of view and i can't wait to enjoy many miles in the car.

Cheers
Peter
I'm so glad an amicable solution has been found Peter - rejecting the vehicle was absolutely the best thing to do and allowed you to have this solution. And that a new deal was struck and you've bagged yourself (imo) a much nicer car. Demo cars, as I'm sure you're aware, just aren't treated well and given both barrels from day one from idle so its not surprising there were issues.

I LOVE the new car and colour - do you mind listing what options its got out of interest? Will be interested to hear of your update on this car,
oil consumption etc - just hope with it ran in properly that it will all be ok?

You don't seem to be the first person having issues - acquaintance of mine had a 718 handed back under very similar circumstances... He bought a manual 991.1 GTS instead!

Lets hope your Porsche experience from here on in is far better than that of the previous white one.

I've been following this thread with interest, fantastic result for you - congratulations!

I'm struggling to settle on a colour for my GTS order, is yours Miami Blue? It looks fantastic and I bet it's even better in the flesh as most of them are.

Looks stunning. You should maybe bring that to VMAX at end of this month or Terminal Velocity next month - have a feeling the new Carrera S will be flipping quick! Is there a power pack for the C2s as option too? If so can it be retro fitted?

Far cheaper to get a company like DMS to just to an ECU retune on it and make sure the chip is taken off prior to service

They haven't released figures but I'm sure it'll be around 500 bhp and 440lb ft aka very very quick for a car that isn't the 'full fat turbo'

The smoke is typical for a defect turbo.

I wouldn't worry about taking the car back after the malfunctioning turbo was replaced.

Which turbo manufacturer supplies the 991.2 C 370 and CS 420? Only heard of CS 420 with this issue.
