991 GT3 7yrs old
Discussion
Looking at a 2013 GT3 with low miles and a replacement engine close to 100k.
These cars have finally come lower in value for all the reasons we all know and understand but I’m wondering what to look for now they are close to 7yrs old.
Obviously an OPC inspection would take place although I’d usually rather take a car to a specialist such as JZM as the car has just been serviced so I dare say they’d say all was in order.
Car has ceramics too which marginally complicated things although I do like the look of them on the car.
Also I’m curious with how the 991 has converged with 997 values now and where these cars settle in value . Obviously much depends on mileage and spec .
Two weeks back a silver CS ( no PCCB) 7k miler was on for 95k and sold quickly.
The car I’m looking at has done slightly more miles and is a year older but the owner wants a shade under 100k.
Also I’m not sure what the dealer bid-if any- would be for these cars now as selling seems to remain tricky .
Tks in advance

I wouldn’t change PDK for Manual you b a modern Porsche,I think the PDK offers even more options with no disadvantages
As a car my .1 was great the engine in the .2 was a step up,with .2 CS at around 120k if you can make the jump it’s worth it and IMO the difference in price will always remain
Either way both great fun and compliant enough on road

I would say buy a run a manual before you are too old to drive manual. As a car my .1 was great the engine in the .2 was a step up,with .2 CS at around 120k if you can make the jump it’s worth it and IMO the difference in price will always remain

PDK are dull as f
k imho. I think itge biggest question is how long you want to keep it OP. In three years time that car will be coming up to the expiry of the factory engine warranty. We have no idea how that will impact used values and also don’t know if the cost of the normal Porsche Extended Warranty which you can buy up until 15 years old will increase because that warranty will now have to cover the engine.
Personally at £25k less than a 5yr newer car without the same engine and warranty issues I think these are expensive. They’ve not come off in price anywhere near as much as some other cars including the .2.

Well the market dictates the price - not what a few people on Pistonheads seem to think Personally at £25k less than a 5yr newer car without the same engine and warranty issues I think these are expensive. They’ve not come off in price anywhere near as much as some other cars including the .2.
When I bought my 991.1 three years ago, the cheapest cars were around £100k -£105k now they are around £90 - £95k but originally they had a similar price falls to the 991.2 - they have just stabilised now.I also can't see the cost of Porsches extended warranty suddenly changing as the majority of the effected cars (which is small anyway) will have been sorted by then and will have washed through - every model inc 996 and 997 had some sort of engine issue and the warranty's haven't fluctuated in price. Porsche are more likely to give goodwill to 991.1 owners if anything imho.
Used values will be more effected by the increasing volumes of cars available and not just Porsche - look at how many Mclarens are being churned out and Huracans etc etc. The 992 GT3 will also be out by then and a lot will depend on how many they make of those. There are less than half the amount of 991.1 vs 991.2 - how many 992 GT3 will they make - more than the 991.2? there is only a limited number of buyers for an ever increasing amount of cars....

I did look recently at the 992S as i think its a stunning car and seriously capable and also more everyday but the depreciation i think will be big which is why i started looking again at the .1 Gt3.As a car my .1 was great the engine in the .2 was a step up,with .2 CS at around 120k if you can make the jump it’s worth it and IMO the difference in price will always remain

I suppose i'd be looking around the 3yr mark.Personally at £25k less than a 5yr newer car without the same engine and warranty issues I think these are expensive. They’ve not come off in price anywhere near as much as some other cars including the .2.
The other consideration is that track use would be minimal too so would i tire with a GT3 for road use 99.99% of the time....not sure.
The appeal previously for the 4 Gt cars i've owned was track days and lack of depreciation but track days i now find a little dull (sorry) and cars holding all their value i think is a thing of the past. Just IMO of course.
Had thought about the 99.1 GTS or even just a C2s 991.1 for less cash and yet great road performance

I fully agree with Cheib on this i just can't believe the prices for these.Personally at £25k less than a 5yr newer car without the same engine and warranty issues I think these are expensive. They’ve not come off in price anywhere near as much as some other cars including the .2.

If your used to GT cars go for it....think anything else might not excite you ! I reckon you’d find a 991.1 C2S pretty dull! GTS is a great car though.

Well the engine issues are very much track related so in your case that is a good thing,. I can’t remember which PH member it is but he’s the font of all knowledge on the 991.1 GT3 engine issue....he posted an update on a similar thread a couple of months ago. The gist of it was if you track the car and take the car to the red line a lot its “when not if” with regards to the engine issue.

NA GTS perhaps ? If your used to GT cars go for it....think anything else might not excite you ! I reckon you’d find a 991.1 C2S pretty dull! GTS is a great car though.
Here's a link to the engine issue - basically don't use sport auto on track

As for driving, it can be a bit too competent on your average A road, but on the right B road it is quite enjoyable at moderate speeds as the car reacts to your inputs and the weight moves around quite noticeably. Better of course if you are in PDK manual mode. I find the steering is not too bad in the dry (wheel will even occasionally wriggle), but no real feedback in the wet. Also, although it is quite compliant the ride does get a big jiggly on poorer bits of road.
I drove a 991.2 GTS 4 manual a few months ago (only about 20 miles admittedly) and I was a bit disappointed TBH. Steering really felt no different to the Macan I had just driven, and the 7-speed gearbox felt a million miles away from the box in the GT4. I guess my expectations were wrong.
I have a 64-plate clubsport with steel brakes on 13.5k miles. I was offered £95k trade-in about a month ago from two dealers (one an OPC) in PX for another car. But other dealers were offering ~ 88k. I guess the OPC would retail it for £105-110k.
