Best daily driver 911 for £50k
Discussion
assuming daily means you require rear seats, I'd say 997.2 C2S manual - sublime car imo
if you don't need rear seats and can live with a little less comfort, I'd echo the 996 GT3 above - I have been thinking about those for about the last 10 years now and still have not bought one - will one day though
Given the age of the 996, I'd guess the 997.2 will have lower running costs (and probably lower insurance cost as well)

If you want it as a daily, buy the newest car you can afford. £50k should get you into a 991. It won’t get you into a decent GT3 and it’s really not good as a daily IMO. 997.2 is a good option, the base Carrera is probably about £40k and a really good car.
Go and try a few and see which you like most.

Should add that I've got use of a Maserati Granturismo for long hauls & family holidays. Really want something that's a little raw to contrast with the Maser.
90% of the time it would be just me in the car.
Needs to be manual as the GT is auto for full contrast.
Currently have a 997.1 c2s.

I think the answer is the newest is get the best C2s you can find for 50k.
Really a 996 GT3 is not the answer to the question.
I drove a 996 GT3 as a daily driver for years, even had the airbag shut down device fitted to go with the Porsche child seat which fits perfectly in the bucket seat so I could drop little one to nursery, it worked fine as a daily driver for us. Only a few years ago my Mrs was driving a 996 GT2 as a daily driver and loved it so I wouldn't discount them as daily transport.Really a 996 GT3 is not the answer to the question.
Having said that if I was in the market for a Porsche as a daily today I would buy the newest 911 Turbo I could afford and use that, I am 10 years older than I was when I was driving the GT3 every day so the slightly softer suspension and awesome power delivery of the 911 Turbo would suit my needs better today.

not the remit though"what do people think is the best 'value' daily driver 911 currently available for cira £50k?"
best value daily 911 is a 991.1, of that their can be no question, now what people like to drive and own on forums is not he same as " best 'value' daily driver 911 currently available for circa £50k?"
:-) talks of GT3's and 997 is laughable at best.

Can’t see why you say it’s laughable, buy a nice one which has a extended warranty and you will be fine for a few years. Could actually turn out to be good value motoring compared to other cars.

Thanks for the feedback chaps. Would any of these offer twice the drive of my current 997.1 c2s?
My head says keep it as it's so much fun for low £20s k outlay. Recon engine fitted 15k ago so hopefully some comfort there.
Surely depreciation proof whereas £50 k gen 2 or 991 would cost me a few grand a year in depreciation.
