My other half has a 2003 996 C2, and both rear silencer boxes were pulled up on the last MOT as being rusty. It passed the MOT but they'll need replacing soon, so I'm after some recommendations from your collective wisdom smile

We've so far been quoted OEM replacements from Northway Porsche at around £900 a pair (not sure if this included VAT, suspect not). I've not yet looked into aftermarket systems, but in all honesty we don't want the car much louder than it came out of the factory (it sounds lovely as is IMO). Aside from second-hand units from fleabay is there anything else worth considering? We'll pay for OEM if we have to, but if we can save a few £ elsewhere then it's worth considering.

Mine were flagged up as rusty at a service, ran it for another couple of years without changing them, then put it up for sale and it went through a PPI without any issues, so you might not need to rush to replace them!
They've been flagged as rusty for the last two years and scraped through, I've had a look at them as they are now and they really do need replacing frown

I don't know if Dansk made the OEM exhaust for the 996, but they certainly were the provider of earlier models.

That stainless sports box above is going to be louder than stock (but it sounds great!) - you can also get a Dansk stainless system that's supposed to be otherwise identical to the mild steel originals. Annoyingly, perhaps, the non-sports back boxes cost more than the sports equivalent.
Good to know, thanks. I agree it's frustrating that the OEM replacements are more expensive! I think I need to do a bit of youtubing to work out noise levels. There's one near me that has some sort of sports system and it sounds awful - just plain loud with no attempt at 'accoustics.'

Has anyone here had experience of the Dansk or Design911 units?

Very kind of you, thanks! I'm in Wallingford so not exactly a million miles away - I'll talk to the OH and see what she wants to do, will let you know if we'd like to come and have a listen.
