Porsche 997 rusty thing on right hand side of engine...

Does anybody know what the below is, its on the drivers side and just behind the engine, it looks rather rusty, on an otherwise very spotless car. Wondering if it is anything that needs worrying about, only thibgs that are the least bit rusty in the car is this and the exhaust bolts....what the hell did porsche make those out of.....

I know thats on the jobs list, what do they make those exhaust screws out of ..... Tin? Well i had considered it might be a ww2 land mine...

If its just a cover isnt it easy to change £5_600 sounds a bit steep....?

Just for information i found that 9m do a stainlrss steel replacement for £150 ish and you dont need to change the rest, unless it is damaged.
