981 Spyder (Who's Ordered/Ordering One?)
Discussion
does not excite me that much, sort of in between the 987.2 spyder and the GT4 but not as good as either.
OK if you just one 1 nice usable car, just has a few short comings over a 987.2 Spyder or a GT4.
like any car if you only want 1 you have to cut back on other items.
So not a good a track/focused car as a GT4 and not as raw stripped out as the 987.2 SPyder or as light !
plus it has a ugly butt lol.
nice car all the same, but not for me.

With heavy heart , withdrew my LOI today. No PDK did it for me. Nice car though but going manual would be a compromise for me and I don't think I should compromise on such a significant purchase. Good luck to all you "manual boys" though. I hope you get/enjoy the cars. (Left LOI in for potential PDK option though - wishful thinking!!!)
Won't be rushing to the dealer... The 987 Spyder is safe. And it is quite some price once optioned up, which I could not afford anyway, so really it is quite an easy decision!
But if I did, at the moment my ideal spec would be;

What interests me is the grunt, and I notice the words 'shorter throw' and 'more direct steering' are used. That's an extra 45 bhp and 50 N/mm.
In every other respect I would rather have a GTS.
The weight saving is fairly modest when you consider that they have fitted the lightweight seats, eliminated the roof motor and binned the AC. I would expect to achieve better by taking a manual GTS and fitting sports lightweights and PCCB. nevertheless, that engine will make it an epic car to drive.
All in all I think Porsche should be congratulated for producing a serious sports car.

I posted this in general gassing buy maybe better here.
I had a LOI in for the GT4 and did the whole deposit thing on launch day but like others, couldn't secure a car for this year or next so got my deposit back.
Are mere mortals likely to be able to bag one of these, or is it the same deal and I'm already too late? Anyone in a similar position speak to an OPC today?
