The Cayman R is at the OPC having its major service done and I've just had "the call". Apparently they won't renew the warranty as it's got non-N rated PSS tyres fitted. So this may be more of an opportunity than a problem 
We're going to be building a house later this year and I'm toying with the idea of selling the R and replacing it with something boring until the build is complete and then getting another in a year or so. The problem is that I love the car and I'd be gutted to see it go so I'm wondering whether to just keep hold and see how I get on. The only thing missing from it is PSE and although the R is better sounding than the S I'm seeing this an a green light to get the Carnewal GT. What say PH?
As an aside, the loaner from the OPC is a Panamera Diesel. Bloody hell it's ugly but boy is it good! If I needed 4 seats I've have one in a heartbeat. I'm converted!

If you are selling I'd renew the warranty to make selling easier. You could always put the right N rated tyres on and sell your current used ones to recover some funds.
However, if you're really going to buy another Cayman R, don't sell unless you need the cash as it's often hard to find the right car and you're just wasting time.

Figure out the selling costs (what it is worth versus what you get) and the buying costs (what it is worth compared to what you have to pay). Only once in more than 40 car swaps did I come out anywhere where I didn't lose big time.
If you are worried about the warranty, buy a set of N-rated wheels and tires from someone. People are always "upgrading". Sell yours or keep em for when the warranty doesn't matter. I'd think you'd come out closer to even doing that sort of thing than selling and buying a car. Lots less hassle.

To be honest, the reason for potentially selling it is more down to not having to worry about it getting filthy on site visits (it's my daily) rather than any financial concerns and in my mind keeping the warranty may make a private sale easier (although it doesn't bother me at all not having one). I can't really see the point on spending out on a set of tyres that aren't needed for the sake of Porsche-tax and it's making me think 'sod it' - keep it.

I believe you could cash in now and pick up another cheaper in a couple of years (if something else doesn't appeal more, GT4).
There were a lot more 987 R's than say the rarer 987 Spyders and I think the introduction of the new 981 Cayman GT4 will moves the Cayman game on.

Tbh, the only reason I ended up using the OPC was due to renewing the warranty. I would have gone to Unit11 otherwise
I didn't realise a set of tyres could have such a devastating effect on an engine
I had new Pirelli tyres fitted by Kwik Fit and when it went to OPC for service, they said KwikFit had put BMW Pirellis on it, not Porsche Pirellis and my warranty was invalid! Went back to Kwik Fit who changed them without too much fuss! Thinks it's nonsense but I'm sure they have their reasons.

I had the same - Panamera diesel when my Cayman R was in for some work. Ugly as sin, but I don't know how Porsche have made a car that's so good on a long cruise and yet still handles. And the sound system in the one I had was epic! Wanted to hate the Panamera, but ended up rather liking it. On topic, if (hypothetically) you said to your OPC 'fit some N-rated tyres then', will they then let you extend the warranty?
