Boxster spyder advice and PDK/chrono opinions sought
Discussion
Just sold the 997 and seriously tempted by one of these.
Would be very interested to Hear from any current/past owners on buying advice and thoughts on living with the cars (mine willbe a second car so outright practicality isn't s prime consideration thankfully!)
I'd also be leaving the car outside so would like to find out how water tight that roof really is and if there are any good top half covers suitable for it to protect the roof in winter ?
I'm also keen to try a PDK car so would welcome any views on that versus manual and also if it's really worth holding out for sport chrono ?
Thanks guys
Nat

Spec is key to maintain its desirability. Manual box, Spyder wheels, carbon backed buckets, PSE, short shifter are the key ingredients, everything else will depend on what your own preferences are.
if you want to try PDK buy another model imo, The Spyders not the car to go and try PDK in although you could get a deal on PDK cars which are stuck selling atm.
lucky for you there is a car for sale which shows off what the car can be, no weighty extra's and all the best bits and manual. very rare launch spec I think one of 3 in that mega spec with the two big cost options of leather and PCCB.
def the spec to have if you plan to keep it long term as an investment.

Driven mine through all sorts of weather including a massive downpour on the M25 with no problems regarding water ingress. Can't comment on if parked outside as mine is garaged. The car is great and ignore the moans about the fiddly roof as it is easy to remove/install one you get the hang of it. I have done 5000 miles in mine including 2 trips around Europe with no problems at all and the handling/driving experience is supurb. You won't regret getting one. Let us know how you get on plus of course pictures if you get one.

Thanks for all the helps and pm's guys really appreciate it. think I've found anothe car to look at - cavendish porsche (any references appreciated - they sound good guys on the phone).
Anything particular to look for when I view the spyder ? Thanks again !
I take it you got my pm .... a nice spec I would insist on getting a 111point check done at an official OPC that way you could but on an official Porsche warranty .I take it their warranty is with an aftermarket company .They are great cars and do not leak have left mine out in a thunderstorm on a overnight to Skye last year .they can be a bit noisy at motorway speed and above .the seats are not to comfortable on a really long trip certainly hold you in place on the twisty bits ..good luck on your quest Anything particular to look for when I view the spyder ? Thanks again !
