The Porsche GT4 has always been a dream car for me and was going back and forth about the raw experience of the 981 GT4 and the more refined 718. After reading many posts by TDT, ChrisW, Twinfan and others on here I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a lovely 718 GT4.

  • second pic is actually from the previous owner (I just think the car looks great in it).
The car has absolutely blown me away with it's amazing chassis and handling.

Looking forward to many miles of enjoyable driving and potentially some track time in the future.

They are sensational looking cars and in Gentian really stand out, I also had one in Gentian a lovely car you will have a lot of fun and not regret a minute.

You should try it on track at least once to see what it is capable of, it will surprise you they are terrific .

Enjoy driving

I think the GT4 is the best all-rounder sports car that Porsche make. This car looks lovely and I'm please that you are enjoying it smile

They just get better and better with familiarity ...

Stunning, one of the best colours in my eyes as well.

Enjoy. Try and get it on track if you can to properly stretch its legs.

After lurking on all the GT4 threads following ownership of a 981 BGTS, 981 CGTS, 991.1 GTS I returned to the Cayman platform and couldn’t be happier.

Yes, there were 2 718 GT4’s one manual one PDK a 981 GT4 and a manual Spyder, PDK was my choice with all the options I’d become accustomed to. My 981CGTS was PDK with Buckets and X73 suspension and I missed the overall experience of it the 718 GT4 really delivers.

Very good.

I also had PDK 981 CGTS with X73 and PTV in a former life, one of the first in the country at the time I understand.
Loved it.

Lovely car, congrats! Quick question, how would you compare the straight line performance of the 981 GTS vs the 991.1 GTS and now your 718 GT4? I understand it's 340 vs 430 vs 420. Wondering if the last two are significantly quicker than the 981?

My views aren’t based on use of a stop watch just butt feel and a glance at the speedo. I always thought the 991.1 GTS should move things on from the 981 GTS but for most of the time they felt the same to me, perhaps the 911 offered just a little more if you were already at 50+ and in sport plus but it was slight. I’ve only covered a few miles with the GT4 but in any given scenario it’s effortlessly much quicker than the previous 2.

Congrats on your new purchase, it looks like it may be my fathers old GT4! (he Purchased it via Porsche Bolton and then sold it roughly 2 years ago via Porsche Mid Sussex). Looks like a leather steering-wheel which would give it away as I don't think many of them have it. Is it on a "69" plate by any chance??

Pics below of the Car when it was in my fathers ownership on his private plate (if it is the same car!)

Congratulations! If that's the car that was for sale in Canterbury then it looked lovely when I saw it. Have fun and welcome to the club!

Interesting, thanks smile

I've been surprised by a few of the drag races involving the 4.0 from the GTS/GT4. It does seem like a very potent unit.

It's certainly very punchy which is why I don't find the long gearing an issue as the car pulls them well IMHO.

Small world! It is indeed that car!

It's an absolutely fantastic spec - your father picked some great options on it!

Just to add to this cars history, it was this very car sat in Mid-Sussex's showroom in Spring 2021 which prompted me to order my GT4.

I'd gone to Mid-Sussex to look at a lightly used 991.2 GTS, but as much as I was drawn by the Miami GTS, my head kept looking over at the GT4 on the opposite side of the showroom by the entrance (It was also roped off). I enquired about ordering one, and was rudely told no, which is when I found out how terrible Mid-Sussex are as an OPC.

From memory it was up £96k, and it had a personal plate on it starting R5, but the leather wheel stuck out to me which is why I remember it. I think the person who owned it now has a 4RS.
