Which is probably about 78 in real money, so Cmoose is spot on.
Bigger point is this - 76, 78, 82, etc are all too high for max speed in 2nd. I don't think anyone disagrees with that.
A thoroughly good job of picking on MrD, though.
Who would complain about top speeds something like the following?
1 - 35
2 - 68
3 - 100
4 - 120
5 - who cares?
6 - who cares?
No idea if those could be done sensibly, but isn't that the kind of thing that most people think makes sense for our roads? 2nd to nail low speed overtaking and exiting tight corners; 3rd for all other acceleration tasks except motorway work, where 4th steps in.
I think PDK is a bit tighter than the manual, presumably in part just because it has an extra gear to stack. No idea where any of the gears peak out, though, because I am too busy enjoying the noise to look at the numbers :-)

I didn't get on with the PDK and I wanted something a little more engaging / analogue. Unless you were driving hard it didn't feel that special. It's undoubtedly a beautiful looking car, one of the best on the road IMO, but after a while I was drawn back to the harder edged looks of the CR.
I'd agree that the gearing in first and second is too long in these cars. Just as they are getting into their stride you have to back off. If Porsche offered a shorter ratio box i'd be at the top of the queue.

Looking for a manual Cayman R, prefer black, bucket seats, air con and manual. Please message me if you hear or see any for sales thanks
If you can wait a while, mine will be up for sale when the GT4 comes out. Spec is as you have described but also has nav, spyder alloys and telephone module.I had not realised how special these cars are before this thread prompted me to find out more. I tried one last week and it is much more interesting a drive than the new cars. The problem I now have is trying to find one. I just tried Paragon for the Black one they had and It seems as soon as they appear they sell! Never had money waiting before, and now i have I can't spend it.
Very frustrating.
Very frustrating.
Found a very unique Cayman R interior today. I think whoever configured it felt very brave and then had the shock of his lifetime on delivery.
