PS4S is an amazing wet weather tyre and it would out brake a car on dry roads over cheap winter tyres on dry days.
when you live central you can get away with not running pure winter tyres as a PS4S will outperform a winter tyres 80% of the time any way.
unless you leave for work early or live in Scotland a PS4S will get you though and if it snows stay at home ;-)
A CUP 2 in winter in the wrong conditions is just irresponsible for the reasons given. As you cannot drive to be safe really.
I drove an Exige 410 at Silverstone at 9am on Cup2 tyres, it was very cold, and extremely wet. I thought the Cup2 did well, yeah we were sliding around but you just drove it to the conditions as mentioned.
My daily is RWD and is on PS4 which are also a summer tyre, I drive b roads and at 6am this morning at -1 degrees I drove it differently (smooter, no kick down etc) and it was fine, if i drove it like i would in the summer i'd be in a hedge.
I've had a daily with r888's, and the only tie i got stuck was when it snowed alot, and aquaplaning in heavy rain to which i slowed down and made it home alive.
I'm with isaldiri on this one, if your gonna drive like it's summer on any summer tyre in any car, in the UK at winter then expect the worst, unless your Tommi Makinen.

Unfortunately MPS4S are not available N rated in GT4 sizes, hopefully they will be eventually (the rears are the problem)
I’ve never had any issues with cup 1 or 2 in winter, just need to slow down a bit and that was in old 911s with no traction control or anything, right foot and steering gently and they are fine..

I would as well, if the other drivers on circuit would be going fast enough to catch you then i dont think its the car itself in fault somehow. Either that or Cheib lucked out and was surrounded by driving gods on the day
I was the only car on Cup 2’s.....other cars like Carrera S’s etc on normal road tyres. You don’t need to be a driving god to drive those faster in those conditions....low temps, rain and new tarmac. The PEC GT2 RS lasted two laps before they gave up. Maybe you’re the driving god but I am not. JayK12 said:

Nope but you can learn a lot more than correcting the “kick” at 20 to 22 mph which is what I’ve done before. Catching the car and holding it in a drift for the length of the skid pad (rather than correcting it) was really fking difficult....at least I found it difficult. The kick plate is easy at the prescribed speed after a handful of attempts but do it 3 or 4 mph faster and it is fking difficult....I found out (like most people do apparently) that you have a good and a bad side at those speeds....based generally on whether you are right or left handed. The instructors can do it up to 26 mph....I couldn’t. Happy to admit it and I doubt a lot of people on here could. And if you can’t you probably shouldn’t be trying to drift a GT3 on Silverstone in the cold and wet. I drove the Exige on Cup2, cold, rain, at Silverstone the day after the drift weekend, so some corners were pretty shocking but i find Silverstone really grippy in the wet, and there were a number of GT3s flying around at a really good pace so really surprised at what you are saying.

I reality you don't know how the other drivers will cope if you lose it on a wet corner with one of the them hard on your tail..The problem is made much worse with Cup 2 tyres whereas the others might be on more wet friendly ones.Too many unknowns for a novice(as i am) to dice it with potentially drivers who are very experienced and know SS like the back of their hand.Its pretty daunting to learn track work in your own PAJ when you're also distracted by the others coming up behind you in pouring wet conditions.

Atleast at SS at the PEC course, youve only got 3(?) cars out on track and 2 sets of eyes looking ahead and 2 looking back
