I know this is thread is for all things R, but I thought i would share this listing of a sensational Speed Yellow Gen 2 S which I have never seen in that colour since I was looking for my R some 3 years ago.
S wise this is as rare as it gets. It is stunning. If you think about it, in this colour, it is rarer than an R!

Crap seats, crap gearbox, no leather, black wheels. Nothing stand out to me, except the colour...S wise this is as rare as it gets. It is stunning. If you think about it, in this colour, it is rarer than an R!

Much like the Viper Green R, it doesn’t really suit the car. And just because it is a rare colour, I don’t see why that would have anything to do with how much people desire it unless it was an already fairly unique and sort after car.

I follow that Viper Cayman R on Instagram, I think it looks amazing. It certainly gets used for its intended purpose judging on the photos. However that is just my opinion and I appreciate at least two people think it looks good!

Christ that’s awful. Awful. And I like yellow cars Please don't take this personally, but I find the concept of a silver or black 987 Cayman R somewhat lacking in the desirability stakes, whereas Guards, Peridot (a colour I used to detest btw) white (my favourite along with Guards), and at a push Meteor, really suit the shape. But that's just me.
The Viper green car used to belong to friend of mine, it's a fine looking car, but I'd suggest those that lust after it, do so as much for its rarity, as for the colour itself. A bit like the 997.2 GT3 RS in Signal orange/yellow, it too is a great looking car, but a large part of its desirability stems from the fact there's just one example in the UK, and plenty aspire to having something unique, and they do so because it's unique, not solely because of the hue.

Because Speed yellow is far more divisive than many/you think Julian. But I have to be honest, I suspect the 987 Cayman shape is too, and when you add the two together, you'll find plenty that like the end result, but you'll also find a good few that dislike it.

hey I am with you. I agree black and silver are hardly the most thrilling. that said I do like the classic black on air-cooled and there is something quite classic about it still to this day - which I like, hence why I spent those 2 years boring you all whilst waiting for the right spec in solid black not Basalt, its a bit more retro in my opinion..... but I am splitting hairs, i agree, there are far nicer colours. Then again i grew up on The Smiths so thats probably part of gravitating to a depressing colour! If I was coming at it again, I would buy that Viper R.
It might be that yellow Gen 2 could be the only one too? only ever seen one yellow Gen 1 and this Gen 2 before.
Interesting the differences that make us all tick. I think Pinky got it right on the 987, thereafter the 981 and 718 have lost some charm - gained modernity, comfort, speed etc, but lost charm.
Best regards

This is the same car that was up for sale a few weeks ago, with most likely too high expectations of value as it didn't meet reserve.I think the 987 for all its errr what’s that when it launched is ageing wonderfully, I see them driving by and think they look fantastic. They are colour sensitive though, and in this case I don’t think the yellow works, looks better on the 981, although I am not the best judge as I wouldn’t even have yellow on a Lancia Delta, so sure its divisive.

I saw that yellow CGTS at Silverstone back in 2015/16 - it looked really good on the 981 but I'm pretty sure it's PTS Signal Yellow - it has a richer / redder hue than speed yellow. I was quite taken aback by the colour so remember it well as it was the inspiration for a 240Z I've just had restored.

Looks like it sold or removed from market, either way that did not take long, cars in right spec even at a strong price sell fast it seems.Gibbo205 said:
