What do you think of having the Bose over the Sound Package Plus, I have spec'd Bose but not sure after a few chats smile
I had the bose on my 987, make records for a living and it is not as bad as forum warriors say. It's a convertible car so isn't a great environment for audio.

The annoying thing about the audio options to me is that if you want telephone features you need CD-Rplus or PCM.

I don't want PCM so that means paying for sound package plus which is annoying if you also want Bose.

(Cue someone talking about it being a purist car/listen to the flat 6/weight).

I should try to have a listen. Really not impressed with Bose - but that is in a Cayman not a Boxster. It is very boomy. There is a "linear" setting which is better, but not great. To put it in context I have a decent home 2.1 system which I use on my tele which cost about £100 and is much cleaner.

Bose is a waste of time and money on any Cayman or Boxster with s.e. and makes very little difference to residual value.

My last Spyder had sound package plus and my current 981 has Bose. I've chosen Bose for my new Spyder as I can hear an appreciable difference in sound quality plus I'm buying the car to keep and enjoy, not sell.

Bose stuff tends to have a "disco-smile" curve to it (tops and bottom, but not a lot of detail in the key upper mid range in my opinion). I think I used to run my 987's Bose system with the bass down a little and that sorted it fairly well.

Clean sounding systems are actually pretty rare in cars these days as there's so much annoying processing going on (I've lost count of the number of BMWs from a few years ago that I've sat in an immediately turned off the silly surround algorithms that add pointless delays to the speakers).

Seems a mixed reaction, I think I will keep it on my list for now and try and get a comparison.

I'm not one for music anyway, and never switch on the radio/stereo in a car, but feel that an upgraded system in a car with a soft top is even more of a waste, as more of the quality is lost through leakage and road noise. Stick with the basic, switch it all off, get PSE and enjoy!!!

I'm here and on cue P S E "ON" 24/7 that's the only music you need to hear in a Spyder ;-)

Evidently there will be a new Spyder on the Porsche stand at Goodwood.

Driving experience booked for am 10th July but I can't make it - does anyone want to see if they can nab this slot and I will book another?

Hi 2010spy

I have been informed today about my Spyder Driving Experience and am wondering if you have yet canceled your slot on the 10th of July? I have just had the earliest dates presently available from Silverstone and that date is much earlier than any they currently have. I am out of the country for 5 weeks from the earliest date they have furnished me with so if I could get you date it would be much appreciated.

Yes that would be great to see in the flesh. I am not convinced they will have a 981 Spyder at the PEC before September. My drive is booked for late July but if there is no 981 then I will happily drive something else 'interesting'. If the car is unavailable Porsche will allow you to do another drive when the car arrives...free of charge of course! This happened with the GT3 last year due to the engine delays.

Some OPCs are reporting delays with the Spyder buckets (folding GT2 style non height adjustable) as well as the GT4 and GT3 RS seats....presumably this is with the supplier maybe supplying both. Mine is the first car from my OPC and October delivery has nevertheless been confirmed.

When you say confirmed, what do you have from your dealer to confirm October?

I also have the first car from my OPC which was July and now Oct build but they're not even chasing me for the final spec yet as my understanding was they believe build dates are still provisional.

Nothing. I can see it being late October tbh if not November due to the August shutdown. No real problem for mevas the car will not be used until Spring anyhow. My OPC has also confirmed there is no urgency for final lockdown spec..... could even wait until September which may have partly been due to the buckets issue although will know more on this soon.

Can anyone confirm if 'Sound Package Plus' - the £400 option - comes with a USB connector?

I'm I right in thinking that there is still a list of colours that you can have to use for 'Colour to Sample'?
