Agreed you did post it won't affect 997 GT3 prices, but you also put forward your view of the Porsche manufacturing strategy which was designed to back up the post regarding the 18 GT4's and 7 Spyders

Don’t try and talk sense with him, he’s an idiot who lives in la la land.

That is not what the post said, it said 18 cars in a month (January) that is 216 cars sold per OPC per yr X nearly 40 OPC's that would be 8640 cars entering the market in 2020, Get real.

Not only that but 7 Spyders per month = 84 per yr x 40 OPC's = 3360 Spyders in a year.

Just shows how crazy this forum gets sometimes biglaugh
I wasn’t told those figures per month, or that they were all for January. Rather, that was the allocation and mine should be here for January. No idea if the allocation was for January / Q1 / or for the next 100 years.

Also, aside from having my 997.2GT3 mot’d, I have no relationship with this OPC. Just happened to let the salesman now I was in the market for a few different cars the day before and was top of his inbox when the allocation came in.

Because they are a business and 718 are not selling, so the production lines need to make cars with firm orders.

If the 30odd cars per OPC rumors, all get sold then Porsche will make more, one things for sure you make what you can sell.

Ap said the cars not limited this time, only forum members and OPC are saying you cannot get cars.

I think they will fill all orders, just will take 18 months.

How many people have £100k and don’t already own a Gt Car ?

Come Sept 2020 you can walk in as a none Porsche owner and just order one imo.
I think you might be correct. Also, people may have to adjust their expectations regarding depreciation. I think the days of these being depreciation proof have passed...but we shall see!

Yes you could be right, I have lost count of the number of limited production cars that have emerged this year from car manufacturers!

IIRC 718 sales are down 50% in the first 4 months of 2019. Maybe they hope this will drive sales?

That’s the point, same with 911’s, therefore they’re going to have to push GT3/4’s out like crazy, just to cover their overheads. As an ex long term Porsche buyer, I can’t wait for the call from my dealer offering me a shiny new GT! Lol.
That ship has sailed for me, and the customer experience (I.e. loosing money) is a lot better/more luxury elsewhere, imo.

So if the OPC's are saying you can't get one, where can you get one from? confused

I personally cant see Porsche flooding the market with GT4 and Spyder's.

Having phoned over 1/4 of OPC's over last few weeks, not one is prepared to offer an allocation.

From what i can see most OPC's have recieved only 3/4 GT4 allocations, with smaller ones only getting 2! Spyder number are even less. Is that not less than intial 991.2 GT3 allocations?

I know my OPC has 3 for this year. They are a larger OPC.

They advised me that I can have one for next year when they are expecting 2-3 per month. I suspect this is where the "30" number comes from.

I am not going ahead because I don't think its the right car for me and I also would be more interested in a GT4 RS.

In order to get to this position of being offered one for next year I have bought a Boxster, 911 and 2x Macans from them...

I think if you wanted one this year you would need to already have a very very good relationship with your OPC.

I think the 30 figure came from me! I just made a number up, in respone to another posters comment. laugh

I have no idea how many they will be building. However if you are correct and each OPC is getting 24-36 cars next year that will be quite a large number for UK market. Also if that is the case i would have thought the OPC's i spoke to would be very intrested in taking my details, instead of saying no chance of allocation.

I'm also much more intrested in GT4RS. Have you been given any info on this? Seems to be extremely quite on the speculation front for this. Is it going to extremely limited?

Depends what you and they mean by allocations....they likely know with a decent degree of certainty how many GT4?Spyders they are getting next year. However those numbers are only firm once they get their quarterly allocations...they normally get those numbers about six weeks before a quarter starts so for Q1 2020 that’s middle of November.

So I think what you’ve been told is confirmed allocations for Q4 2019.

That said if you aren’t particularly well known to an OPC I’d say the chances of them telling you the truth about their allocations are pretty much zero. I know my OPC pretty well and I am sure they don’t always tell me the truth. Nothing about you it’s just how it is. I think the only time you can believe an OPC about allocations is when you hear the words “you have a car” ...the rest of the time they’re shading the truth to suit their purpose. Others my disagree but I think that’s the reality.

There are probably quite a few people who have been given the nod that they’re very likely to get a car next year but that’s only confirmed once the OPC gets that allocated/confirmed build slot from the factory... which as I said is about six weeks before the quarter begins,

In the US they seem to get allocations/build slots a lot earlier so maybe it’s Porsche GB holding it back. Could well be to keep the OPC’s on their toes.

I think the GT4 RS will be some time off and only perhaps 2 to 3 cars per OPC.

Also unless you have a really good relationship/buying history/prepared to buy some heavily depreciating stock cars from your OPC the chances of securing a slot are slim.

This is exactly what he’s been told...

Those numbers are similar to my OPC’s 2020 allocation which is a Porsche GB owned one.

Apparently they will also be none limited, Porsche need to fill orders moving forward.

As you will be aware from owning dealerships in the past profit keeps the lights on so makes sense on Porsche’s part.

Looking forward to the non limited gt3rs.

In the mean time, my gt4 locks on Tuesday, and can’t decide on gold or platinum wheels on guards.

Will be good to enjoy it for a couple of months before every man and his dog has one.

My dealer still thinks they might get 1 a month if they are lucky, but hey ho.

All black is not to my personal taste. IMO all black hides the design features and shape of the car too much. Perhaps a reason why the prototypes tend to sport this look.

With black I would take silver or grey wheels to give a contrast.
