Plus cooling is an issue. All possible to be engineered around but that adds to the cost. Possible on the next platform perhaps if it's considered during the design stages.

It's most likely to be an NA six, as most people keep saying, based on Porsche staff quotes.

Presumably Porsche are going to introduce turbocharging to the GT models at some point?

Would they rather cross that line with the 718 or 911 first?
People forget turbo-charging is not new to the GT car lines..... GT2/GT2 RS anyone.

The thing is will Porsche choose to change the direction/philosophy of the GT4? from NA to Turbo.?From GT3s little brother to GT2s little brother?

Before the 981 GT4 launch - I was arguing that they should have maybe looked to create a new branch with the car based on the 4-pot to draw on the 919 racing success and therefore keep that race on Sunday sell on Monday link....yes the 919 is a V-4 T instead of a flat-4 T but marketing is a powerful thing and pretty sure they could carry enough over and make it work.

718 launch was around the corner... so then it looked like the 981 GT4 and Spyder were Flat-6 swan songs... a la 997.2 GT4 4.0.

Isn't the R8RWS £110k before options? So at least a £125k car once anything like 'normal' spec is applied.

I know Audi like to throw discounts at you, but I would still class the R8 as a price point above the GT4...at least I hope so!!! biggrin
Audi is well speced, it has sensors, cruise, all Stuff you have to option on a GT4.

also you can BUY one lol just add leather and buckets, it's £115k list with maybe £10k discount lol £105k :-)

Its a nice thing imo
I agree, its what i would buy at £110k with a V10 540hp nasp engine..If i wasn't picking up a new GT3 next week i most probably have been down to my Audi local dealer to place an order..IMO the new Audi RWS is the dark horse in this segment and hasn't been overhyped and marketed to the extreme like the new GT3.

Personally, think they could make the F6T work if they wanted to hit that price point and gap in the market/gap in the line-up.

Taking a 991.2 GT3 engine and detuning that by 75-100BHP is madness IMO.
Has been mentioned before...but maybe they will take the bottom-end of that unit and then add more mainstream components... but then this is still pretty expensive to do? not sure how interchangeable these components could be.... makes more sense to Powerkit the 981 engine, use the 991.2 F6T or go F4T.

I know this is not the thread for it, but there is something really compelling about the R8 and at that price it seems like a fantastic piece of kit. I think the compulsion weakens once you get past the £140k mark which is where most 'new' spec'd Pluses seem to land, but then part of that is my unrealistic view of the market. I still baulk at the idea of a 911 C2S being a £100k car. smile <getting old>

However, as a financial transaction it will most likely be worth somewhat less than what you paid after 12 months unlike the GT4 which will be worth more, so not a great proposition in that regard. However, if money is no object you probably wouldn’t be looking at either. Manual 991.2 GT3 anyone?

Actually, the more I think about it and despite not wanting it to happen I wouldn’t be surprised if we are offered a 3 litre turbo GT4 with a detuned engine from the current 991S.
but it's not about values, although that allows one to try cars for free, it's not the be all, overs just gets in the way regarding trying Porsche 2nd hand.

Carbon is being used a lot more on this new car apparently and I've heard that as a result of the more expensive materials plus engine developments that the price will be quite a bit more expensive than the last one.

As I've said, my cleaning lady who is also a cleaner at Porsche says it's a 4 litre N/A flat 6. I've been told that it's a development of the gt3 unit with some different internals.

I was told that it really should be a GT4 RS considering the developments but it's not.

Make of that what you will. Expensive materials and more aero looks plausible to me in terms of the exterior shots.

I thought it was your masseuse who was providing you with all the info?

well if this is going to be just a standard gt4, the RS should be something else.

Did they tell why it wont be called a GT4RS?

There won't be an RS! They'll be keeping that branding 911 exclusive IMHO.

I seriously doubt it in this case. Porsche probably have enough of a hard time slotting a new GT4 into the perfect place in the product hierarchy without having to worry about where to put an RS too.

The GT4 is the entry level GT car and the stepping stone to GT 911s - they have no need to make a hotter and more expensive Cayman when the GT3 exists as the next step up.

Gt4 brakes? Looks like the finished or almost product,I think we will most definitely be seeing that at Geneva in March 18! But what's the engine we need to hear some soundtrack of the cars!

Based on these pictures and the last spyder/gt4 similarities, i'd say the first pics i posted are of the GT4 and the recent ones are GT4RS.

Perhaps a GT4/Spyder with F4T and GT4RS with 4.0?

woohoo

Same GTS front bumper again. Strange. I guess they could swap it out pre-launch but it seems odd. Previous GT mules have always had the correct bodywork on them.

The spyder looks too complete to be altered much. I'd say the only thing which will be different is the exhaust and rear diffuser(or at least i hope).

Have a GT3 and GT3RS ever been launched together before?

Or maybe a limited amount built like 911R?

Exhaust and diffuser are finished IMHO. No tape/bodges, it looks showroom ready to me.

GT3 RS and GT4 were launched at the same Geneva show last time (2015): https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/products/geneva-in...
