I watched it earlier, I like him, an interesting guy, but some of the cliched script/lines are cringeworthy. A lot of youtubers could have shot a better review.
I knew someone would be posting a link to it up on this thread today to help boost the value of their R beyond the GT4![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

thing is, colour aside, for £3K more one could get over half the milage, extended leather and buckets....

I picked up a Cayman R yesterday, lovely drive home and so glad I went for a manual over my previous PDK 987.2
The only major downside I've experienced are the headlights, it has halogen dipped beams and xenon high beams (I think). The dipped beams are horrific, the lenses don't look cloudy but I plan to use it all year around so wondering if there're any upgrade bulbs that are recommended?

I tried a HiD kit in my 987.2 and wasn’t particularly happy with the results, so swapped to LED bulbs which are much better: Philips Ultinon Pro9100.The only major downside I've experienced are the headlights, it has halogen dipped beams and xenon high beams (I think). Theoretically using HiD or LED bulbs in a headlight designed for halogen is an MOT fail, but the standard lights are so poor the car is all but unusable at night.

So only 621 were made worldwide. That is quite low and rivals some serious 911 limited releases.

Basically repeat the same thing throughout and then an odd bit halfway through where it is like a previously shot intro but inserted and once again repeats things.
Numbers wrong. He did come across as not really knowing much.

I see Magnus Walker has done a video on the CR now.
Err, it was discussed on this thread 2 weeks ago, including comments from yourself ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
The comment I made above was because I saw a still in my YT feed of him stood next to a CR.. didnt realise it was the same vid.

Never really liked content from Magnus Walker. Gave the video a watch through interest in the R and Spyder.

Digit missing I believe, 1621 worldwide, 220 UK
I'd always understood the number to be 1421; no idea where the 6 came from! Maybe 621 is the number in the US? As for Mr. Walker, he may have an odd combination of accents, but his passion for Porsche and for driving definitely comes through in that piece. As for making professional content, I'm sure it isn't easy; but his endorsement of the R as a great driver's car is clear.

Interesting... is the Ultinon H7 plug and play, or did you need adapter rings? My car has the (lighter!) halogen lamps and although I wouldn't say they are unusable (they may have upgrade bulbs) I could do with a little more at night. The Ultinon H7 LEDs are plug and play. One of the things I didn't like about the HiD kit was all the gubbins - ballasts, ignitors & loom - that has to be fitted into the headlight unit, but with the LEDs there's none of that, and it's a simple swap back to the halogens if/when required.
Considering the upgrades, this is better value than its headline price might suggest

Your eyes may be better than mine! I sometimes wonder if Porsche fitted the halogens purely so the car had 'headlights' and could be put on sale. In the event that you actually intended to drive the thing at night then the expectation would be that you optioned PDSLs...rather like steel wheels or non-metallic paint.

They are on par with the worst headlights I have ever owned (V6 Exige being a contemporary), I've ordered some LEDs so will spend some of the holidays installing them and hoping for an improvement. The Ultinon H7 LEDs are plug and play. Ive got an A6 with Matrix LED fandango lights which are great... getting into the 987 Spyder isn't great but jumping in the 964 or 993 after that is a real shock to the system.
I've stopped the car gotten out and walked round the front to make sure that they're actually working and im not just driving on sidelights.
Clearly peoples eyesight was better 30 years ago!!

The Philips Ultinon Pro9000 have worked really well for me. No MOT issues either.I would recommend also installing the Philips Canbus adapters - without them, mine had random issues that would come and go. For example, the LEDs starting up really dim and brightening over time, and the headlights remaining on while the headlight switch was off. The adapters were a bit of a pain to package in the headlight units, but removed all issues.
Also worth noting that I tried the Philips Ultinon Essential LED first, but sent them straight back - nowhere near bright enough.
