Looking at marine traffic, there aren’t any car carriers in port at Emden, but 2 are due to arrive tomorrow, the Durban Highway and the Monocross Leader. Hopefully our cars will be on one of these, the next car carrier is not due in port fort another week. My car is due arrivein the UK at the port of Grimsby.
I found a link on a Taycan forum that says this ship is the southern transporter to Sheerness. It's on the way back to Emden now so fingers crossed..

Gentian, but then I am bound to say that as I have ordered one. Should be here sometine in July hopefully. I think Gentian in the sunlight looks stunning but each to their own.
I think Gentian looks stunning on a bright day - especially with the silver wheels. Great choice. Build date of 18th June, so expecting it soon. Think it's on the same shipment (from Emden) as others here. Has to be quarantined in Liverpool for 3 days before shipping to Belfast. Can't wait!
I was on fence on rear wiper too :-) Salesman grimaced when I asked for option - deleted and will go for RainX! LOL
Looking forward to comparing builds :-)

Got an update from dealer today. https://www.myshiptracking.com/?mmsi=355351000
You possibly know this - there are apparently two routes into UK from Germany (Emden).
1. To Sheerness for Southern UK dealers.
2. To Grimsby for North UK and Northern Ireland dealers (NI bound cars are transported to Birkenhead and shipped across the pond!).
My car is still showing as ex-works yard, so not likely to get car until mid-July..
Will post updates as I get them.

So, assuming my OPC were correct and my car has been at Emden since last week and assuming it is the Malacca Highway that will be bringing it from Emden to Sheerness before road transport to Reading, it would appear the ship arrived just after 2pm yesterday which was 24 hours after it left Sheerness. It's turn around in port is usually around 24-36 hours. It's draft has gone down since it docked which would suggest it is still unloading. I would hope that it leaves around midnight tonight and will be in Sheerness by Thursday. Transporters then have their thing to do which could well be another 36 hours. If we are lucky, we might get a notification at the weekend or Monday that the cars are at Reading with handover perhaps midweek.

Was told by OPC Edinburgh yesterday that my car was at the docks. Timescales provided were that once it arrived in the UK the transport company have 5 daysto get it to the dealership and then they would need around 2 days to prepare it.
Have just checked and the ship has just left Emden for Grimsby. With any luck I may have it by the end of next week.

With thanks to members who sent link to track ship delivering their vehicle, I too see the City of Rotterdam on its way to Grimsby. Quite exciting tracking your new cars journey!
Foy guys receiving your cars from dealers, do you let the dealer prepare your car, or are any of you getting independent detailers to prepare and, for example, ceramic coat or PPF your new toy?
I was considering getting mine ceramic coated before it touched the open roads.

Alternatively, buy a 'new' GT4 for the same money. Frustrates me why no one has really used it!

Having had professionally detailed and ceramic coating applied, dealer applied ceramic coatings and professionally detailed and full PPF on previous cars. Professionally detailed with ceramic coating looks the best, well until you get an inevitability stone chip. The thing with PPF is it doesn’t protect against everything, you can often see joins and there can be bubbles in it. I guess it depends how long you are going to keep the car for, this time round I’m thinking PPF for areas of high risk of stone chips and ceramic coating of the rest of the car, although it will always be the bit without PPF That picks up the first stone chip.
Neither is perfect and you are unlikely see any of the money back at resale, a lot of OPCS remove PPF as part of their pre-owned vehicle preparation, unless originally applied by them or their affiliate.
I also wonder how much automotive youtubers actually pay for their PPF or whether it’s free as part of paid promotions.

How do you know which ship it’s on? Does the dealer share the consignment number or something?Have just checked and the ship has just left Emden for Grimsby. With any luck I may have it by the end of next week.
