The 718 GT4 might be arriving sooner than you think!
Discussion
I do find it a bit odd that some of the development cars look to be finished with the GTS front bumper.
I first thought that perhaps a 'cooking' GT4 might could come with less front aero and that the one we see with a 'proper' front bumper could be a GT4 RS... But then why would they launch a GT4 with a GTS front? It looks a bit pants.s
As a result the one you see with a more GT4 style front must be the final design. Looks good to me... Very purposeful and aggressive... These sort of details are perhaps why my masseuse said that they really should have called it an RS.
Its the motor that is really intriguing me at the moment though as I hear its not just a version of the old Carrera S 3.8 and that its more special. Al this twittering I am hearing could well see the price hike I was told about. Newly developed motor cold well see a 75 - 80k base price?
Its getting interesting now...

Gaffa, rough bits, looks like an earlier mule to me. If that's the latest spec, why are the "showroom immaculate" mules knocking about? Doesn't make sense to me, but then neither does a GTS front end. Odd. AS I said earlier, Porsche haven't radically changed front ends compared to mules on a GT model in the recent past. That's not to say they won't, but it would be unusual for them.More pics over the next weeks/months should tell us more.
I think the first pic with GTS front is GT4 and the second pic is GT4RS.
I can't see any reason why they would be releasing spy shots of the same car with different fronts.
I think we'll see both cars at Geneva in March possibly with GT3RS.
If you look at the spy shots of the GT3RS it has duck tape in the same area as on the second set of pics. For this reason i think this will be a GT4RS. Also according to Fokkers source the new car will be quite a bit more expensive than the last GT4 with carbon and GT3 engine which also leads me to think it will be GT4RS.
I could be totally wrong again. I thought the GT4RS was going to be launched this year in March!

Can’t see a Cayman being given the RS letters. Also can’t see a massive price hike - just the usual 5+% new model premium. Exhausts / bumpers mean nothing either - it’s a mule. I’m 90% confident it’ll stay NA from either a 3.8 or 4.0 (more thinking 3.8 than 4.0 though) and top out at 400hp. I reckon we’ll also see more built too.
People... Mules are Mules... They are borrowing parts from other models (GTS) to disguise what is really happening. It's not that difficult to understand. The 981 GT4/Spyder was never on the road in full production form (Side Intake Scoops, Rear Spoiler and Rear Diffuser were not revealed until official debut).

Image from May 2014, 10 months before launch. Pretty much the same car that i got delivered to me with exception of wheels, Side scoops and spoiler ends.

Caymans now less expensive than Boxster so same as Gen 1 GT4 but Spyder 10% increase Phooey said:

I think it is also about market allocations so not necessarily more for UKNavanod said:
That you know of... there we’re early mules running around prior. We are more than a year away from debut. GTS hasn’t even had its full launch yet.
Agreed, i think the car is some ways yet from a proper release. the 991.2 gt3rs is pretty much a dead cert for Geneva as multiple mules have been seen for a while and banging around the 'ring. That's not the case for any prospective .2 gt4.Navanod said:

Yup, I think people are reading wayyyy too far into the car looking "showroom ready". We are more likely than not a year out from release...as I stated earlier, Frankfurt/Rennsport 2018 makes sense for a release time frame. I do agree that perhaps the RS will be the focus at Geneva. I also think, as cmoose and 063 981510 have said, that the GT4 and Spyder will share most of their body work. Oh well, we can go round and round in circles, but no one will really know until a few months from now. Autocar have confirmed its a detuned GT3 4.0 engine

I'll have to buy my masseuse a drink... she's bloody well on the ball with these things... https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/porsch...
425bhp is slightly up on what I was thinking and quite a jump from the 375 - 380 in the old Spyder GT4.
Great to see the GT3's 4.0 being fitted. As my masseuse said, it has some different internals so are they reducing its power mechanically rather than just using smaller throttle bodes and maps? I heard it has different cams and valves so perhaps not quite such a rev monster as the Gt3? Lets just hope its not too long in the gearing department and that Porsche have again listened to us which they are pretty good at doing these days
Sounds awesome

it's still hard to see it, all these reviews are made up click bait atm
adding 50bhp to a Spyder !
Its true so believe it. I was told ages ago. 425 I agree is a good hike but when using the new 4 litre, you can't dumb it down so much. Autocar are I think on the money with the power. GT4 could see 430bhp.adding 50bhp to a Spyder !
Why don't you cancel your GT3 allocation and go for one of these instead.
Give the GT3 to someone who really wants one? Just a though
