Q - If you had a spare slot in your garage what car would you run alongside the R and why??
I have a spare garage slot and a bit of an itch to tidy the garage, make it a proper looking facility with walls done etc, new door, tiled floor and put something else in the spare bay.
My current fleet is CR, family - 2017X5 and I inherited my dad's 2007 focus st which I use every day and now has just 55k miles on it. Got some rust treatment done and Mountune kit - never to be sold.
My thoughts are ranging from:
Focus RS Mk3 - great fun to drive, would compliment a CR well and fairly limited depreciation
Ferrari 430 - getting on a bit now but they give me the horn
McLaren 570 - would be heart over head as a big depreciator
quite a list. I had toyed with chopping the CR in for a McLaren but just cleaned it the CR on Sunday after a blast and I think it needs to stay

Of those, the 430 is where my money would go. I have a spare garage slot and a bit of an itch to tidy the garage, make it a proper looking facility with walls done etc, new door, tiled floor and put something else in the spare bay.

RS is great fun and a real mix from the mid engined RWD NA Cayman
570 would be an absolute weapon and i dare say put the Cayman in the shade so bad it would potentailly ruin the R experience.
430, still NA, still potentailly appreciating and its a Ferrari so about as much drama and theatre as you could want.
Just make sure you get one with AC or you'll never sell it
A/C was a must have for me as well. My previous track car (964 cup car) had none (or effective heating, interior, radio, power windows!) and I just wanted the extra luxuries. My car has most of the in demand options (manual, carbon buckets, short shift, PSE, sport chrono, PCM, Spyder wheels, Bose, a/c) and the only one I wouldn't mind not having is the PCM - the nav is crap and I generally end up using my phone instead.

Well, given what I run alongside my Cayman R, I'd say your thinking along the right lines with option one Focus RS Mk3 - great fun to drive, would compliment a CR well and fairly limited depreciation

The main reason that I've kept the mileage down on the CR is that I've made sure that it's never a disappointment climbing aboard my daily driver!
one thing I have noticed from this thread recently is most people saying the PCM/Nav is rubbish, however mine is although not prefect it is acceptable bearing in mind it's not a new car ?
weird one being when I have been out with Frayz in his my nav works where his is still lost/thinking about it
my car has full postcode search - Frayz's has only first 3 digits ? but my cars older ?
so from this I can only assume there as an option for an update on the PCM as my car was sold through an OPC a couple of years ago ? so might be worth looking into if anyones struggling with the PCM
btw, I Love my A/C (especially now)

lack of ac is pref for me, only use it very occasionally, don't have it on my track cars.
tried to find an e46 csl without it, was surprisingly impossible - think there's only 2-3 cars which didn't spec it against the ethos of the car
Careful, you'll be branded a lunatic like Frayz and I tried to find an e46 csl without it, was surprisingly impossible - think there's only 2-3 cars which didn't spec it against the ethos of the car

Mine's got full postcode search (Sep 2011 car) - this is was/is available as an update from OPC. The nav is usable, but it sometimes comes up with some odd routes, and even with the full postcode can get a strange endpoint.weird one being when I have been out with Frayz in his my nav works where his is still lost/thinking about it

So, what I'm seeing from much of the recent posts is that AC is more about resale than anything else.
It's therefore good that I specced my car for me, rather than for the person who might buy it from me later.
Given that I've owned mine from new for over seven years and have no real desire to let it go, I'm happy with speccing a car for me, rather than the next owner
No my air con is for my comfort and liking and well worth having, just because you haven't got it you don't need to try and justify why at every opportunity... beginning to sound like you miss it It's therefore good that I specced my car for me, rather than for the person who might buy it from me later.

Err actually I'm not trying to justify anything, I was just summarising that resale seems to be the major factor for wanting air-con in many comments, like the selection below. The last one is from you BTW
"All fair points. I drove a non AC R with windows down and I was thinking I'd want my windows down all the time with that sound! I think the only consideration is resale but as long as it's factored into the price then that's fair and as long as you know it may take a wee bit longer to sell."
"I have aircon and wouldn't have bought a car without it because of resale issues"
"A/C will help the car to sell better and help resale values."

Yes indeed it does. Why would anyone want a modern car without it!The last one is from you BTW

Well make your mind up, I posted that it appeared that resale value was the major factor when it came to wanting AC in an R, you responded with..."No my air con is for my comfort and liking" essentially saying that you didn't want air-con because of resale, but rather because you like it and it makes you comfortable.
I then highlighted the fact that you had previously said that resale is a major factor for wanting AC, to which you have now responded "Yes indeed"
So which is it?
"Let's not argue about 'oo killed 'oo"...
There's a nice one at T H Boler just appeared, doesn't have aircon despite the ad saying it does. Shame about the rear wiper though - ruins the lines imo...
Just realised Dougal may have meant that one, but the link brought up 5 cars. There are 9 on AutoTrader?

Well you can read what I've said....it's obviously both!! I like air con... you suggest you don't but you try to make out that the cars are better without it . I have been pointing out that I like air con and wouldn't be without it. It is also a selling point which tends to add value. You can see the amount of people who have turned down cars without air con and that's just on here. Anyway I'm not too bothered about your preferences as long as I know mine has the best spec for me (And for selling on should I feel the need)."No my air con is for my comfort and liking" essentially saying that you didn't want air-con because of resale, but rather because you like it and it makes you comfortable.

You could always have it retro fitted But then it wouldn't be factory would it?

My bad, I didn't check the link. Yes, it was the boiler car that I was talking about. There's a nice one at T H Boler just appeared, doesn't have aircon despite the ad saying it does. Shame about the rear wiper though - ruins the lines imo...

Does anyone know how much the Viper Green CR was up for?
