What is with that rear diffuser? Isn't that the same as the 718 GTS?
It's a similar style, but has the separate pipes not dual like 718s have. It's pretty darned chunky isn't it?! laugh

SO........

Do you think new GT4 will be released at Paris?

I’m going, but I won’t hold my breath...

No, I don't think it will. I'm not convinced they've got the engine sorted and WLTP testing done.

In one word yes, it will stand out even more in any other colour! Makes the 981 Spyder look even more beautiful. I bloody wanted a 718 Spyder if it was NA too ffs. (Was hoping id get an allocation!)

They look pretty new pics to me.

Such a shame that rear end is so bulky frown
Not sure if this is finished - if you look closely it looks like an additional piece taped on around the exhaust area. Guess we’ll find out soon enough. smile

Yep. However, that style of diffuser has been on all the mules since they first appeared. I reckon it's pretty darned similar to how the finished item will look given that everything else appears pretty much final now (tweaked wheel design, front bumper, rear spoiler etc)

Yep fair enough , I don’t think it’s as pretty as the 981 - rear haunches and rear lid are lovely - less fond of the front/rear , the side intakes and also the wheels smile

Here's another one of the rear, with what looks like most of the tape removed:

Very Robocop 2014.

Definitely, deliberately more aggressive than the 981,but also it’s a bit fussy, where the 981 just looks purposeful.

Crying out for double bubble roof as well... might as well, throw the kitchen sink at it.

No, they're slightly different. More straight lined/squared spokes.

To those who thought Porsche might announce the new GT4 at Rennsport Reunion this year...

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/products/porsche-9...

It's a 77 unit special..

Obviously Porsche have too much time on their hands..

Yep, distinct 5 star double spoke again - much closer to the new RS style wheels as a the GT3 RS and GT2 RS

Seems that part of the GT4 recipe, is to channel that little bit more of the RS vibe.

I was talking to my local OPC Dealer Principal a couple of days ago in his words “we wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Spyder and GT4 come with uprated flat four turbo engines.

Another usually well informed source on a German website has said “I heard today that VW Group plan to use as little differences in tech between the various model families and brands as possible, synergy is the magic word here to keep development, certification and manufacturing cost as low as possible.
If true, this is going to be interesting because I don’t really believe they will use another 6-cyl n/a engine, WLTP certification and all. Unless they use the 4.0 l WLTP certified engine in 2019 for the GT4 as well but I kind of doubt it”

So we could all be in for a big disappointment.

Auto makers always maximise synergy - nothing new and Porsche have a JV with Audi too.

I'm sure the GT4 and Spyder will share the same 4lt engine.

I believe all future GT models will be turbo and use electric powered turbos.
I hope you are right - I couldn’t imagine a Porsche GT car with “that” engine.........

Diesel is 15% of sales globally - which reduces emissions

GT cars about 15% of all 911 models (supposedly) - which increases emissions.

Porsche needs to offset this huge deficit under even stricter targets. So turbo'd GT cars and electrification or make a lot less NA GT cars, but still electrification.
Porsche make 200+k cars a year. 3-4k GT cars are a drop in the ocean for them regarding emissions and essentially inconsequential.

Except Porsche don’t release global GT production numbers and I read a quote supposedly (as said) from Porsche saying the numbers are much higher.

I also said “911”, not all cars. Less than 20% of all cars Porsche make are 911 and 718.
You said 15% of 911s. ~ 30k 911s are made per year. Anyway give or take a few more thousand, increase that by 50% per year. It doesn't matter. the last sentence in your post is exactly why what happens emissions wise on the GT cars really doesn't matter for PAG or VW as a group. They have utterly no need to offset anything wrt to what the GT cars may or may not be doing.

........ The VAG can’t pool between manufacturers it owns either.
In the case of the Volkswagen Group, for example, its luxury brands Porsche, Audi and Bugatti are grouped under the manufacturer’s pool, while Bentley elected not to and instead received a small-volume derogation for 2015. Whereas Bentley came in below target, Porsche would have incurred a penalty having missed its own substantially. Fortunately for the sports car maker, other brands in its pool such as VW’s own namesake badge compensated by overachieving.

I’m considering switching from a 718 Spyder to a 718 GT4. Regulations at the Ring have changed, and no longer allow (at least on track days) to put down the roof.
What sort of spec would people recommend for a good ring setup?

No such cars exist and might not for another 12 months.
