Another question I’d be very interested in peoples views on please:

Weissach Pack, looking at the second hand GT4RS for sale in OPC centres UK, 1 car out of 25 is Non WP, so approx 96% have WP. I kind of fancy a “stripper spec” i.e. non WP but would have all the key “track” and creature comforts like CS. PDLS, Bose etc. but I’m just a wee bit wary of inadvertently ordering what will be maybe perceived as an orphan down the line? Also whether a down the line I’d maybe regret not having pushed the boat out and gone WP.

Ref WP. I think it was identified early on that it is poor value on this car, that said… as most of the market is WP, the non-WP cars standout, as ‘missing spec’
Fortunately if you don’t like visible CF bonnet of WP it’s pretty easy and cheap to get it wrapped or ‘peelable-painted’ in whatever colour you desire. Totally reversible.

As has been said, we are about to witness what happens to the market on these cars as trackday season opens, and the impact of BoE rate holds trickles into marginal relief on finance rates.

Suspect the fact almost every car had WP is initially the OPCs insisting the cars be specd up in order to get the allocation. Then, once all these cars come back into the market everyone looks on and goes with hers in “having to spec WP so my cars not an orphan”, very clever marketing.

Re track day season getting close, I suspect a fair few second hand cars will be sold soon and accordingly prices may firm up somewhat.

In terms of WP ... I think it's a liability for many in use.

It's not a Manthey modification that makes a real performance difference ... in terms of practicality, do you really want carbon fibre structural suspension components when in the handbook it says that they should be regularly inspected for any stone chip damage ... for minimal weight savings (and not unsprung) ?

Weissach only became available from the later 991.2 GT3RS which you can clearly see in the specification of the available 2018 and 2019 cars in the market. Not having Weissach didn't lose sales, it simply reduced the value of sales and access to Magnesium wheels (now available in the secondhand market for around £10k if you want them). In fact, at one stage availability of Magnesium wheels was limiting the rate of sale of the Weissach specced cars ... clever marketing adding £25k to the sale price of each car ?

In more recent years Porsche OPC's have been the gatekeepers for access to the GT cars ... and when for some speccing a matching £10k watch was part of the qualifying process, it's not difficult to see why most purchasers were encouraged to top the car up with even more expensive frippery.
Hence at least 95% of GT4RS that I have seen everywhere, have the mainly cosmetic Weissach Pack. This is great if you like bling, but it is making the OPC Approved used cars very expensive by comparison to the list price of the car that many of us would specify.

Is Weissach going to be a future investment ? What percentage of the cost of accessories did we think is retained into the secondhand value ??

In the GT4RS it would appear to me to be rather common ... and prospectively unwanted ?
Well my dealer mate always used to say that useful/desireable extras were worth around 50% of their new cost a couple of years later. Not sure that WP could honestly be really classed as useful. Desireable (for many people) sure, so £10K WP sans cage maybe worth £5K extra second hand - who knows?

Speaking from my experience I wasn’t pressured into WP by my OPC although I went for it as I thought the carbon bits looked good against the GR paint. Other than WP mine was a poverty spec track toy with steel brakes and Al wheels and that is exactly what I wanted and bought it for. Interestingly my old one is still sat at Porsche Stockport where it’s been since I sold it nearly 6 months ago. In that time it’s gone from one of the cheapest available to one of the most expensive. I fear they will be taking a substantial bath on it laugh it does look very expensive and poorly specified against some of the other cars now available. Although to be fair I wouldn’t change anything if I ordered another.
Horses for courses and all that.
What colour interior did you go for with the GR please?

Had a Quick Look at the car in Glasgow OPC today - silver does work well against the WP. However I got thinking about spec a bit more and that car doesn’t have Lift which I suspect is a pretty key omission? I actually wonder if Bose works well in the RS or is the car so noisy as to render it a bit irrelevant?

I drove that car before Christmas nice basic spec and pretty good nick overall despite a few marks on the front bumper bonnet and mirrors.

Looks great in Guards red one of my fave colours.

Decidedly overpriced at £175k especially bearing in mind its basic list of just £140428.
Thanks I do try to look after them. It was actually £10K less than that in 2023 as it was a pre price rise car wink but I agree that is academic now. It’s perfect at list IMHO.
Looks like your old car got a £12K haircut last couple of days -£163K now!

Can I ask, looking at the design of the cut away sections on the front wings, did you find your car got any stone chips/gravel rash down the side please - by stones being fired off the front wheels/via the cut away section please?

I had a track pack PPF put on before it turned a wheel so it should be perfect down there. It is a very vulnerable area. It covered the front wings, the sills and the intake sides. There were marks in the PPF after 3 track days but I doubt that it had damaged the paint underneath. I would guess that the dealer has removed the PPF now? Some of them don’t seem to like retailing cars with it on.
Thanks - my last GT4 I did the bumper, sills and intakes and it worked well. Didn’t do the wings though - was it the whole wing or just the lower down exposed part?

The whole of the front wing including the chamfered parts. My guy had a template specifically for the RS.
Thanks

Is this the car being discussed?

What is consensus/feel on where spyder RS pricing may be in day 18 months..? Do we know the approx numbers of each that will be built/sold for Uk?
Yup it’s my old one.

Spyder RS? Anybody’s guess. Very much depends on numbers delivered. Unlike the 4RS in my opinion the Spyder RS doesn’t have such a clear brief. The standard Spyder is such a bloody good all round car the RS detracts in as many areas as it improves. Great powertrain vs reduced useability especially in the UK. The Spyder hood is a bit of a PITA as it is, the RS goes one step further!
My guess is, like any limited numbers Porsche, it will be a safe place for ones money for the foreseeable future.
Tend to agree. Given both cars are a last hurrah of the small petrol engine Porsche platform pre EV and they both have the proper full house GT3 engine they will, in my opinion at least, be highly desireable so long as petrol is available! As safe a place as any to stick your hard earned…. Especially if you plan keeping the car longer term.

Glasgow dropped their GT4RS by approx £10K this week also. It’s a bit of an odd spec car though with no lift. Suspect that will alienate a fair few potential buyers

Be interesting to see if opc will get the same or more allocations for 2024, they certainly haven’t received the 1 or 2 cars most of us were lead to believe.
By this you mean they have received more per dealer, right?
How left shows 203 cars registered in 2022 up to end of quarter 3 2023

Currently 45 opc across the Uk meaning an average of 4 to 5 to a dealer by end of quarter 3 of 2023.

If the gt4 rs runs to end of 2024 we could see another 100 to 125 cars, maybe more if it carries on into early 2025. Either way I’m sure they will be able to sell ever car porsche GB offer them. If I was s betting man I would say the Uk could see around 325 cars.
You might well be correct that numbers end up over 300 cars. Interesting that how many left show around 675 GT4 were sold in UK, so the GT4RS is heading for around 50% of regular GT4 production. The folks who paid way over for early 4RS cars must be well pi##ed off.

Saying all that, a new lightly specd GT4RS at list (even with WP) its in the £130s, still a cracking buy and I’d say very safe place car wise to stick your money short/medium term. Long term the 4RS will I suspect always be in big demand as a high water mark in driver enjoyment/analogue experience amongst a sea of EVs and the like.

Your numbers are out on the 718 GT4, a total of 1303 registered car in the UK.

Agree I also think demand will definitely be they once prices settle. Prices are just to close to a 992 gt3 at the moment.
wink how could I forget about the PDK cars!

Test drove 991.2 3 pdk and manual and 992 3. 991 felt a comfy tourer. 992 was better, still comfy but better suspension.
Drove the 4RS which was mega exciting to drive, an occasion. Each to their own, to me 4RS much more fun..
Interesting, I think the last GT3 I tried was a Gen 1 991, liked it butwas same price at 3 years old as a new GT4, which I bought instead back in 2020. Porsche will clearly keep pumping out the bigger car as long as petrol is available, whereas the smaller 4RS is a one off which they have thrown almost everything at - suspect this comparative rarity will count well in its favour in the medium/long term

Is the PDK in the GT4 the same as the 4RS? It was spectacular.
Nope, the 4RS has a shorter set of gears than the GT4. Matches the 9000 rev limit perfectly on UK roads, without licence losing/prison sentence speeds.

That video is quite interesting makes a few good points overall but obvs the Australian market is different to the UK. His observations on black being an unpopular colour there probably more to do with heat although more popular Gentian is also quite dark. On colours surprising how few Shark blue UK 4RS cars have appeared bearing in mind its popularity on the 992 GT3.

Interesting thoughts re colours. Personally have always felt GT cars (and espec RS) work best with vibrant colours. Black and Gentian (doom blue as stated by Evo mag wink) don’t let the WP carbon pop like the freebie red and yellow. Puzzled as to why Shark blue seems so unpopular on the 4RS, it’s a lovely colour after all and contrasts well with the carbon etc?
