Thanks all for help so far.

Re buckets I would really like them but.......I have a hoon partner who is my uncle. Long story. He's my dads brother and has prostate cancer with a few challenges. My dad died of the same thing unfortunately.

Hopefully he is gonna be around for a few years but will struggle to get in buckets so the normal seats will not be a deal killer. He used to have the fast cars / bikes etc but cannot now.

Time to start looking around, the Aston has to go
Sorry to learn of your uncles situation and of course your dads passing.

Best option, I'd say, is take your uncle with you and when you are both happy with the spec which will suit you both and the car go for it.
You both won't be disappointed .

Good luck

Thanks Kev! Wow, that's small! No wonder they look like milk bottle tops under the 19s!

I need a car with ceramic calipers then, when I get round to actually looking for one that is... scratchchin
Your welcome.

Op - the white one at opc Aberdeen may be the car for you then as it has sports chrono package plus, short shift and a 2 year warranty over the black car but twice the mileage and sports seats which are very good.

I second the "worse car experience ever" comments. I had new V8 Vantage and it was easily the worse car I have ever owned. I changed it for a Cayman R and loved it. Wish I still had it, I now have a manual 991 GTS and love that so much.

It is a great fun car the Cayman, I understand why people like the bucket seats, my wife hates getting in and out of them in a dress, so I got 18 way, as to be honest I always fell into the car.

For what most of us use our cars for standard seats are fine.

as it's a 6 year old car any battery will be nackered and that battery was £2k lol

better off with a new style battery.
maybe but the battery makes up 37% of the weight saving over a normal cayman and the air conditioning delete another 22%
imo to buy a car without these options is pointless

also re: aston martin, the vantage is a bad car to drive imo but the dbs is really nice, lost almost zero £ in depreciation too

Thanks - life too short to f*** about. 3 calls and sorted. A bit of coming and going on price, detailed photos and Aston value discussion which I had bids from 3 dealers for.

Car also getting a service (I like mine done annually) - i'm old fashioned so don't like oil changes every 2 years.

Spec maybe a bit softer than some cars and mileage at 29k but I will only do 3000 per year.

Hope this one is a keeper as my propensity to change needs to become less frequent

white
19 inch Boxster Spyder Wheel
6 speed manual transmission
64-l-Fuel Tank
Automatic air conditioning
Black Wheels painted
Cup holder
ParkAssist (rear)
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module
Rear wiper
Sound Package Plus incl. CD storage box
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Sport shifter
PSE Sports exhaust system
Sports seats
Telephone module for PCM
Universal audio interface

Got 2 bays in my garage - what do I run alongside it, keep looking at focus rs!

Hope you are going to enjoy the new CR!

Few months ago, before my GT8 arrived, I considered moving to a CR from my Vantage 4.7 (Manual/Sport-pack/Coupe) myself. However, after a 2-month long debate (with myself), I couldn't make the move, for these reasons:

Price to switch: The CRs I considered (manuals with the "must-haves") were offered at very similar money of good Manual's, Sport-pack, Vantage 4.7s (around £50k). I felt the Vantage to be, at the end of the day, a more premium proposition and, look & sound aside, a very special car to sit in and drive on B-roads.

Maintenance cost/Cost of ownership: I estimated the CRs were slightly cheaper to run due mostly due to the 2-yearly service interval. However, we are talking about £2/300 per year in savings, relatively not a large amount. Value-wise, my take is both cars can continue to hold money very well (few top-spec CRs vs the new turbocharged "Vantage" higher price-point will be positive for 2009/10MY 4.7 Manuals' values)

Reliability: Both the CR and the Vantage 4.7 are known for being very reliable cars (I can see 4.3s having some issues re clutch/electronics)

I think the opinions stated here on the Vantage were a bit on the harsh-side! Maybe because you guys had automated-transmission's ones?

PSE is not correct, or it's been painted as PSE is silver, standard is black, but it does have the button, no Sports Chrono, or sports button, no Short shift.

When I had the PSE retrofitted to my 987.2 Spyder, the exhaust came without tips so the fitter had to either move the black tips from the non PSE or you can buy the silver tips as extras. That might explain the black tipped PSE on this car..

My vantage is a 4.7 sports pack. I just cannot get on with it. Its beautiful but niggling things piss me off like paint peeling off the mirror arms (cheap to fix) and a few warranty issues, doors not locking, radio module failing etc. I find the drive quite rewarding for a trip to gleneagles and my wife loves the look of it with an outstanding cabin. But to me it feels heavy and I can feel the weight in the chassis. Point to point I was never as quick as I was in the evora - it stuck to the road like st to a blanket.

It was an itch I needed to scratch. A great gt car but I'm after a hybrid of lotus steering and Porsche build quality. Hopefully this works.

Maybe if I make a few quid more I would have another Aston in th stable

We are all petrolheads

I think you miss the point it will be nackered after 6 years and it's bloody expensive.
NO AC = no sale on a coupe, it's simples.

you can fit an after market battery no issue if you want the saving. but you would NOT want the org lion battery it never was right.

to the OP you should enjoy the R :-) have fun

Photos to follow....

Drove up with the Aston and stayed over last night

Beautiful day in Aberdeen and a short drive from malmaison to the Aberdeen OPC for an 0900 pick up. A bit of paperwork then the boring drive to Lanarkshire as speed cameras all the way to Stirling.

Car was gleaming as previously had a g techniq coat in 2016. Barked into life and immediately at home again in a Porsche after a 4 year break.

Went for a 60 mile B road blast after lunch and feels planted with a great cornering ability. Do not miss the Aston in the slightest - maybe just the noise.

Steering feels very connected to the road and quick enough for the driving I enjoy.

It's funny but I had more issues with my Porkers than I have had with the Astons. I know the earlier cars ie DB7s can give trouble but they do seem to of got better in the reliability stakes. Hope you enjoy your new motor.
