Nice to see the flat six society spouting their usual nonsense.

Let’s ignore subjective ‘feelings’ about “power delivery” for a moment and actually get objective. Facts & figures, real, actual metrics speak very loudly about what is the better car. None of this “thoughts & feelings’ millennial hippy bullst about what car is more “fun” to drive etc, continually spouted by the likes of jonttt & co. Although we all know they don’t like that sort of objectivity...

“Top trumps, top trumps” yeah right. Fk off... the 981 is dead, get used to it. Long live the 718!
Thank you! as a first time forum thread starter and new car purchaser ( my current Porsche is a 944 Turbo), it is such a bore hearing people go on and on and on about the sound of the 981. Who cares? Porsche dont, I dont, and if you do, then good for you, but don't keep harping on about it. I'll say it again, the design language of the 981 and the GT4 is bland and feels very dated. the 718 GTS even in 10 years time will feel preemo.

ROFL £60K. This or a 997 GTS. In fact this or the latest, lowest mileage, manual 997 with £15-20K in your pocket.
Laugh all you like - 981 GTSs are very popular and prices are holding up. Some people prefer Caymans to 911s you know wink

Fair enough, have fun with your 718. I don't think there'll be a huge change in the facelift, but as we haven't seen any mules yet it's for anyone to know what's coming other than Porsche.

The £74k for a 718 GTS is 981 GT4 money. There are a couple of black ones at OPCs at the moment. I'd be buying one of them.
I wouldn't if it is a daily driver. Carrera T would be what I would look at as a used alternative.
I would concur with that
The materials and styling of the Carrera T feels cheap in comparison to the Cayman GTS. That gloss black plastic trim is so cheap looking and its too much leather everywhere, feels cold, whereas the CGTS with Alcantera is a nicer place to be. Furthermore the Carrera T is another approx 15K and I have to draw the line at some point, otherwise at that money the next reply would be, "go for the new 911" smile
911s are easily worth the extra.

If you don't like leather then find a T without. It was an extra cost option with the T pack and easily worth it. Cars without leather sell for alot less than the cost option new.

Black shiny trim looks great and suits the car btw.

It's amazing the different tastes on here.
I think the T is definitely one of the least nondescript 991.2 cars. It's definitely near the top of the turbocharged era in the characterful department.
That silver car is definitely reasonable value, albeit silver maybe isn't the best colour to show the T details.

I get that and I'd actually like one myself and when the 981GTS was new it was a compelling proposition. It was at around 25-30K cheaper than a similarly specified 911 or you could buy a 2-4 year old 911 for the same money but it wouldn't be a new car and wouldn't have the same level of warranty. Those like yourself that bought new or very nearly new are laughing but what about the buyer now with 40-60k who wants to buy into the brand. I'm not sure they are as a compelling purchase particularly if you assume that values will normalise at some point.

Why would I be laughing? It's the GT car owners who bought at list who are laughing! My car has lost circa £12k in value in 3 years. As for normalising, who's to say the current situation isn't going to remain? I see the 981 GTS's position being maintained between the 987 Cayman R and the 981 GT4.

The only issue at £40k - £60k is if you want a Porsche with a flat six. If you can see past that, there's the 718.

That and the all black steering wheel would be amazing! I reckon the steering wheel change is very likely. Thanks again for your reply.

Everybody is different, and some people have differing requirements for a 'daily'. Personally I found the GT4 a frustrating daily car due to a stiff clutch and lack of a high gear for motorway driving. It was just too uncompromising, which is of course what it was designed to be so no complaints. (And I tried twice with a GT4 before buying back my old GTS, which is still the best car I've been fortunate enough to own).

Apologies, pdk compared to manual. 7th on a 981 pdk is an overdrive pretty much

My two cents.

Bumped into the DP of my local OPC while waiting to discuss a new 718T in March.

Told me an F6 Cayman (besides the GT4) was definitely coming soon. Wanted to let me know so I went into the T purchase with my eyes open regarding residuals.

That probably tells you all you need to know about customer feedback on the F4T.

Well what I hope for is it will make the second hand market drop in price as I would be over the moon with the current 718GTS. Unless the CF6 was the same price, but not knowing how Porsche operate, with each and every update to the prices just go insane, or so they remain close to what they were?

From what i have read its not exactly the run of the mill Cayman/boxster? I also believe they are already testing electric and hybrid boxsters?

The OPC tech who gave me a lift home a couple of weeks said he'd just been on a transmission course and there was a big space in the new component for an electric version.

That is not what Porsche dealerships have been told

It would seem an odd thing to tell them if it isn't going to happen. If they're struggling to sell F4Ts already it won't help things, will it.

What are the chances if it does come out it’ll be (a) fecking expensive and (b) only available in such limited numbers so as not to impact emissions averages?
