lol am not saying any thing as I have zero info on the new Gt4 atm.

Just stated in if has new internals it's not then a GT3 engine.
Yes I agree, you'd think even if half a GT3 unit could still be a corker!
I am hoping that they've remedied the slight lack of top end revs in the old 3.8 although Ive never really had an issue with it.

Im in the 4.0l camp but I'm still been told its a RS. Maybe your masseuse was mistaken in thinking it will only be GT4?

It's possible isn't it, I'm not completely ruling that out either. If its a flat 4 turbo, I'm going to run for the hills (without my masseuse)!

I thought the car freed up quite a lot after 5k miles, I also have no issue with the top end really.

if I keep it it's having this tune ;-) shame it's not got the stock torque on the graph as there is a BIG dip which the mods irons out at 4k ish.
435BHP and a lightweight flywheel, what's not to like

It's 4.0L using a enlarged version of the current 3.8L. Look at the PET files for 3.8L S and 3.8L GT3 crankcase, very similar part numbers with just last 2 digits being different. Start with GT3/RS/R 4.0L crankcase, ditch fancy valve gear and use resized Carrera spec crank, pistons, heads etc.

So is it a GT3 engine? not really as it'll ditch the GT3 specific internals.

Who is this tune from and any other supporting mods required?

ehresmann in germany. voids the guarantee though.

if porsche puts the 4.0l gt3 engine in the GT4 and spyder they are taking a huge dump over their entire 911 Line-up , the supposed Daddy.

I just cant see it.

You might as well have his 4.2L upgrade to really void the warranty

+1. Still maintain they will use a detuned turbo flat 6 from the 991.2 GTS. Don't buy into the suggestion that cooling is a constraint. Red herring.

Not sure if others have confirmed it and as I can’t be bothered to read trough the pages of drivel posted in the Porsche section but just returned from a Porsche driving day (911 GTS is a great car)

A person there confirmed exactly the same details that two others who work in development have so pretty sure it’s spot on, namely that:

It we’ll be announced Feb next year and unveiled at Geneva.

It is a 4.0

Will have gear box option

Will be circa 10-15k more than last one at base but with extra toys that were options before.

Should be an epic car (last one put a smile on my face every time I sat in it or drive it).

sounds good but also sounds like an RS not a normal GT4

A: it's a year early
B: price
C: power.

that must equal an RS model imo.

to get the full 435 yes it need bolt on parts, but unlike a £40k 4.2 engine rebuild, you can go 435BHP with bolt ons for under £10k which you can bolt off again and sell.

435 is a stage is 3+

Yes I heard it was going to be a good chunk more expensive. Hoping it's got a chunk more power too. Sounds good, cheers for the info.
