And I think that's the point, as a daily with PDK it's brilliant.
Yes, it kills any equivalent BMW in my opinion (if you only need 2 seats) especialy at the prices floating around ATM.

I need to fight a car a bit and have some drama so 987 still has it's uses

Thank you for the input. For those of you have experience of it, does the 718 work in city driving. I do find my JCW annoying, mostly because of the manual box in the context of constant traffic and lower speeds.

With regard to discount I was looking at 16% off new existing stock. No new build slots available with rumours of a new flat 6 !

Yes with PDK but won't be as nimble as your JCW when going for gaps. Also if you get a Boxster the rearward vision is a bit restrictive so might need to look twice when going for gaps to avoid getting into tangles with bikes coming from all directions. Not a problem with the roof down though smile Go for a drive in one and see if you like it.

Was this for a base model? Did you go for it? Am currently debating on mine

Let's be realistic, announcing a high CO2 emitting huge displacement naturally aspirated engine across the range is simply not going to happen, and certainly not outside of the low volume halo models / GTs (and perhaps and still to be seen the GTS.)

WIth the punitive fines for exceeding fleet average CO2 emissions, the push towards EVs the entire strategy would have to be reversed leaving Greta frothing at the mouth protesting on their doorstep. Unfortunately those days are gone now, but I do think the EV performance will be impressive, however those who appear to value sound above all else will be very disappointed...

The GTS 4.0 is the worst kept secret though.

Porsche will just weigh up the punitive fines versus the loss in sales of the 4-pot.

The 4 pot will definitely survive but it's the other stuff going on around it that is of interest.

Sure, but so far we only have vague evidence of a possible F6 GTS so I do think people are getting a bit carried away here with rumour and hearsay, and I can't see Porsche reversing the strategy as they won't have a choice.

Fyi here was the original thread:

Have you thought about a TVR? Semi-serious question...

Porsche are part of VW group so surely there emissions all fit into the VW Group so maybe they can produce NA engines as they can leverage all the VW diesels and any hybrids on the way. If its a new engine it should be fairly clean, but just like the GT4 it will sound pretty mutted, so not really super hyped about it. .

Only briefly. Things like reliability etc. are a worry.

Long before the GT4 landed there were plenty here saying it wouldn't a be a F6, Porsche wouldn't undermine the F4T blah blah. Remember that Schmed? wink

AP has said they invested money in the new engine for GT4 engine and they planned to recoup the investment by using it in other models, albeit detuned.

You don't fancy the new GP3 with auto/paddle shift? Over 300 horses and a lot less outlay for brand new (£35-37k)?

I don't as it is auto and has those terrible pi$$ flap addenda.

As a fellow JCW manual owner I love changing gear for myself, but appreciate that there are those that like to have less involvement - particularly in traffic.

I’ve driven Minis since 2008 so think I just want a change. Loved the manual experience but given London traffic, it can also get very annoying!

Just trying to work out whether there’s any risk of the new 6 pot engine ending up in the base / S, as then I’d hold on. Otherwise I don’t think £47k for a new specced 718 is too bad.

I think you've forgotten to take your pills Highway wink, I've always maintained if they do release another F6 it'll be premium, i.e. above the existing base and S, of which the suggested power output of 399PS would appear to support.

ETA: was interesting to see the base can be tuned to beat the mooted new F6 GTS and the S/GTS can be tuned over and above the GT4 fairly easily. That, and the torque characteristics of FI will see some red faces around the track given the difference in prices vs the NA lol.

How's the mileage on yours btw Highway ? Will you be posting on the 120k thread soon...? wink

The way the GTS name seems to be getting thrown around at Porsche alot now maybe that will just be the new 'S' and they will run tha GTS and the base 2.0. Drop the S completely?

Are many specing the 718S anyway (compared to previous Cayman generations).

^^^ Yes, agree....

Pretty sure the Special Editions F6's will be flying thick and fast the next few years until the electric transition (to get the last bit of cash out of the old guard).

Not for another 50k my friend... a load more of the sort of miles I like, the way I like it. If I’d wanted one of the fastest things I have stuff with TTs, bought a TT RS and tuned the sh!te out of it.

You really don’t get tired of telling us yours is faster the ours do you, it’s quite funny really. Outright speed has never been what it’s about for me but if that’s you thing, great. Enjoy. They’d be nothing worse than have a car you don’t like eh wink
