Judging by the list of BGTS and CGTS for sale on the Porsche website, about 75-80% are PDK cars.
I am looking to get a Boxster GTS to replace my current 981 Boxster S PDK and am tempted by a manual, but just not sure.
Drove a manual 981 Cayman S a while back and didn't prefer it to my PDK - but just drove a manual Boxster GTS demonstrator and loved it. It was a very slick and a joy to use.
I would never get a PDK purely for convenience/laziness or for slightly better 0-60 - only because it is fun and better, with added convenience of auto mode. Not experienced a GTS with PDK but I bet the downshift blips sound amazing with the sports exhaust.
Advice?
Whilst I respect that there will always be those that prefer the greater mechanical involvement with a manual box I must admit to being a PDK convert. Had manual boxes on my first two 987 Boxster S, and the short shift linkage on the second one. Great boxes. Then had PDK on a Cayman S which was brilliant and again on a 997/2 Carrera S. PDK on the latest generation 981/ 991 is even better, shift changes are faster and throttle blips on downshifts the icing on the cake. Drove the Boxster GTS with PDK both at the dealer and at the Silverstone driver experience centre. So good I wouldn't even think of going back to a manual box. The only proviso I would make is it's pretty much essential to have the sport design steering wheel with proper paddles (standard on GTS anyway). The multifunction wheel with the push / pull switches is simply awful. I kept inadvertently changing gear with the ball of my thumb. It looks hideous as well.I am looking to get a Boxster GTS to replace my current 981 Boxster S PDK and am tempted by a manual, but just not sure.

I thought you get autoblip on the manual with Chronosport (standard on the GTS). On the other hand PDK ratios 1-6 are sensibly lower than manual ones (which are very high) and motorway cruising is significantly more relaxed in 7th. (But let me declare my bias as a PDK convert) I am looking to get a Boxster GTS to replace my current 981 Boxster S PDK and am tempted by a manual, but just not sure.

Yes, in Sport Plus mode. Obviously that has other implications, such as reduced traction control I believe.bcr5784 said:

I agree. On the motorway, the manual Boxster GTS was loud in 6th gear and felt like it needed an extra gear.JamesBGTS said:

Yes, the downshift noise is awesome, as is the F1 sounding instantaneous gear change! With sports exhaust in sport plus mode? I am looking to get a Boxster GTS to replace my current 981 Boxster S PDK and am tempted by a manual, but just not sure.

Joined the forum way back in 2005 and this is my first post. Reading a hell of a lot on loads of cars and finally took the plunge on the Boxster GTS.
Had a 944 Turbo back in 93 then had kids.....
Now they are gone and settled with partners this will be arriving end April/May. As a previous poster and many more have said. Cant Wait!!!
Sorry its not a Cayman but there was another half involved in the choice of car.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

I am not sorry either out all day with roof down yesterday in the sunshine it was 5 degrees but with the heated seats no problem.
Even in the cold weather the cars handling is sublime, just need to give it a good clean now.
I did have doubts about moving over to a Porsche from an Aston but they have long been forgotten about.

Thanks, really just looking forward to getting back in a Porsche and the Boxster is looking stunning. Even in the cold weather the cars handling is sublime, just need to give it a good clean now.

Same here, though if Porsche could get the sound of a Vantage v12v from a Boxster GTS RS (yes, I made that up) I would probably buy it Even in the cold weather the cars handling is sublime, just need to give it a good clean now.

Takes between 1-3 weeks, depending on how far from Southampton docks your OPC is located. Since I got mine from Portsmouth OPC it only took just over a week to arrive from Germany after the build was finished.
Factor in at least three weeks and you won't be disappointed.
So my car will be passing my front door (in Southampton ) around 24th February on its way to Swindon! Seriously though delivery time is dependent as much as anything on the schedules of the car carriers (believed loading port is Emden). Glad it's not on board Hoegh Osaka currently on its side in the Solent.....Factor in at least three weeks and you won't be disappointed.

Hopefully all being well, it should be good for collection on the 1st or 2nd March. Dammm this has been a long wait for it.... rxpandy said:
Quick question all, how long does it take from when the cars build to delievery at your dealer? Just wannted a rough idea as mines due to be finish on Friday / Monday.
Mine took 11 days from completion date to get to the dealer although mine was shipped to Grimsby rather than SouthamptonGassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
