It's not to my taste for sure, but each to their own...life would be pretty dull if we all specified our cars in GT Silver! wink

+ 1 here

Just horrible indeed

I don`t agree on aged look GT4RS, it looks timeless to me. Ik like de anloque dash, no DigiDash Trash for me please.

Look what BMW is doing, the new iDrive 8, the curved screen, iis is just awfull IMHO

But each to his own I guess.

@TDT - Forgot to ask , did you keep the OEM warranty ( Not sure is Manthey is recognised ) or do RPM do a version of their own ?

MR parts are covered by 2 year warranty from Manthey iirc (so you’d just liaise with RPM, JZM and/or Manthey directly, if the car is registered)
OEM warranty doesn’t not cover the MR parts but remains intact for the rest of the car…. I have worked with my supplying OPC on this and they are happy.. as they have good relationships with JZM and RPM anyway and have serviced, maintained and resold MR kit cars themselves.

Suspension and brakes.. (which is the MR kit really is for GT4)… is not covered comprehensively by Porsche new car or approved used warranty anyway.

For me warranty is valuable for drivetrain, electrical systems and body work/corrosion … all of which are untouched.

FWIW, on top of the more specific answer from TDT, Manthey is de facto Porsche; Porsche became majority shareholder in 2013.

The two businesses work hand in glove: https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2022/products/pors...

They do, but only certain kits are Porsche approved. 991 GT3RS, 991 GT2RS and 992 GT3 as far as I recall. No GT4 kit has full factory approval.

I don't know how the GT4 MR kit sits alongside the extended warranty and 111-pont checks etc. I know the check was abandoned a little while back so you may be able to extend with it fitted?

It's not as simple as that though. I'm sure cars have failed 111-point checks in the past for having a genuine Porsche part but from another model fitted...

The way that the extended warranty works means that the visual check isn’t required if you are applying to a new car warranty that still has time left on it.
If you need to introduce a car to extended warranty program it has to have the 111 check completed.

The GT4 kit does not have full ‘end to end’ cover via Porsche as I stated.
2 years from MR for its parts, and then whatever Porsche cover you may or may not have on the rest of the car.
So for me that equals a combination of cover on the car until Spring 2025… if anything that’s gonna break, as a result a result of manufacturing defect will have done so by then.

Only 991 GT3 RS, 991 GT2 RS, 992 GT3 and 718 4RS (as of Spring ‘23) will have full cover directly under the Porsche tequipment umbrella

Got my 4RS allocation today. March build which is amazingly soon, I am gobsmacked. No PTS unfortunately. I have gone for a proper track bunny special, which lets face it is all it’s good for. Guards, WP, steels, Aluminium wheels and all the rest of the little bits and bobs that you need. Comes out at just over £130K which feels like a bargain to me.

I had this dream that in an ideal world I would do a few track days with the R8 and the 4RS back to back and then decide which one to keep. I never thought it was a realistic ambition. However here we are and the dream feels a little closer now. Fingers crossed. Perhaps there is a god after all angel

Handy for me I don't want PCCB's on this car. I just cannot see the point of having to change the pads before I can even start any track work. Then agonising over changing the discs to ST just so I don't wear them out. Not looking forward to all the damm wheel cleaning though.

Interestingly whilst the configurator showed the new LED lights with PDLS on the actual order form it is showing the old PDLS+ option at a different price and implying that the new "LED lights with PDLS" are currently not available?, its greyed out on the internal order form. Not sure what that means but its not a deal breaker. Just have to eat more carrots if it comes with candles. I did tick Bose as well but not sure why, unless its got better recently, it is crap, be happy if that got knocked off as well.

Hi Mark. Hope yours is fit and well, are you still out and about or has it gone to bed for a bit? What tyres did it arrive on? I am really looking forward to trying some Cup2R's on a car designed for them. I guess it just comes on ordinary Cup2's?

The plan with mine will be to drive the wheels off it as soon as it gets delivered. So probably a quick Euro trip to run it in, Geometry check then a good few track days in quick succession. The Ring and Spa will be on the list but it may be whatever I can get booked. I had a great trip planned to Monza and Imola in 2020 but Covid saw to that. There were track days at both circuits just 3 days apart which just never happens. I might try and find something similar.

Looks like Mrs BigM is not going to get that beach holiday again in 2023 wink
