Yep the supply issues componentry shortages and rising prices are factors
This is true but the Cayenne uses wiring looms from Ukraine but look how many are coming to the market new and unregistered, the 718 gt4l limited by supply but over 60 for sale on OPC similar story for all 718 4litre models, the 992 mostly built during covid yet over 300 used for sale on OPC site.If anything the supply issues is helping Porsche for now on the sports car range but with over supply of secondhand cars growing (in excess of 1700 OPC cars for sale up from 1300 only a few months ago)paints a different picture. In normal times the amount of used cars is about 1200 for sale at anyone time

As for componentry issues one glance at the Porsche configurator confirms the supply chain issues are real and this is not going to be resolved any time soon in fact the semi conductor shortages are set to run until 2025 as recently confirmed by various Press reports including Car Dealer magazine and Autocar. The absence of light upgrade packs on the new GT4RS are but one example amongst numerous shortages widely reported affecting not just Porsche but the car industry as a whole.
Anyone predicting an Armaggedon style crash in the price of used Porsches particularly Porsche GTs in the face of restricted supply and huge price rises new with more ££ rises to follow has obvious skin in the game and this is further confirmed by posters on the used car threads many of who sold out now much to their regret to find they are without their much loved pride and joy are now running round in a very costly to run shed and prices have stayed much the same and in some cases actually risen.

As I've mentioned previously. Once you start filtering, that total number available on OPC finder is a complete non-story.Start: 61 (as of 6/11/22). Then filter to include what people see/buy as the desired/essential options:
Leather dash with stitch: 49(-12)
PDLS+: 42(-7)
Buckets: 33(-9)
Sport chrono: 30(-3)
PDK: 9(-21)
So as a manual you lose c50% of the available, and as a PDK you lose c85% of available stock. Add in PCCB and/or Clubsport to any of the above and all those numbers drop by another 60-70% at least.
That's all before you even start to consider age/milage/colour!

I am not sure its right to compare interest rates on cars over the past 10 years, even GT cars.
10 years ago we were not talking about major overs on these cars.
The low interest rates has aided the higher asking prices, i think much like the housing market its not nessesarily specifically about asking prices, its about affordability.
So what we have over the past couple of years is low interest rates and high prices, since September we have seen prices start to decrease across the board regardless of spec and desirability (i have been tracking a few) . We now have a major jump in interest rates which as i see it reduces the affordability, so the prices will have to decrease to match affordability, then combine this with fears of recession, people holding off for winter and what appears to be time in stock for dealers increasing. I suppose the dealers are also seeing this with anecdotes from here about extremely low offer prices and even no offers on cars as the dealers are trying to build in a lot of safety......... This safety margin they have yet to release into asking prices so i feel there is more to come.
But, i might be wrong. I have hairy balls, not crystal balls. I guess time will tell.
I also believe that we have to take into account that there are over 100 cars for sale and 60 in the dealers, i am not sure "desirable" spec is a measure we should be looking at........ Afterall the spec was desirable to someone when they specced and bought it brand new, and if it was so badly specced then the dealers wouldn't buy it.
The desirable spec is entirely someone's personal taste, again my point is, someone specced it new and was bought for stock so its desirable to someone. Besides prices are adjusted to take account of these spec differences.
Just my oponion.
Yes i do have a vested interest, last weekend i went to pull the trigger on a blue clubsport car from Glasgow, Tuesday the interest rate went up 2%. So i am hoping they decrease. Maybe December 23rd is a good day to buy now

Even “desirable “ spec 718 gt4 can be in the mid/high 80s ! It’s only some Porsche centres trying to keep prices high!
No one is denying a component shortage but they are building a lot more cars/ gt products than 2008/9.
I always thought that OPC reduced their stock going into winter and increasing stock in the new year not increase buy c35% in October/November?
No one is predicting an Armageddon price crash but no one can deny prices are softening and have been for a while! There has been a brand new unregistered BGTS4.0 up for sale for weeks and they are meant to be in high demand ? Me thinks if still for sale by end of year will be had for under list!

… a manual car that is 2-3 years old, yes. But as I said, add age, mileage and colour into the price equation and things vary massively, add in PDK and things change further still. The 2-3 year old cars you talk which are at high 80’s… well, remember one thing, that’s still above current list price. You are looking at things very one dimensionally, not all GT4’s are equal In price anymore. The GTS and GT4 are two completely different markets/buyers, so your comparison there is a bit odd. It feels like you’re talking down the market possibly so you can get into the car you want, rather than the car you have bought/coming…

Why pay £10k deposit for a car you can buy used straight away for under list price ?
Didn’t know. I want a pdk gt4. 2022 or newer ? Are these available under list?No they are not. Of the 9 2022 pdk OPC cars currently listed 3 are over £110k, 4 over £100k and the other 2 are the best part of £95K with std interior and no buckets i.e. all over list. However they may be one out there somewhere, good luck with it.
